Thanks for the well wishes everyone.  I have been trying to get to bed at a decent time.  You know before 11:30 or so. 😉

On Saturday we went to see the LIVE! experience of Walking with Dinosaurs.  Brian was in charge of the tickets, and initially we were only going to have him and Kai go to the show.  I thought Anya would be too scared, but we talked to her about it.  Basically, we said, “You better not be scared if you go because these tickets are really expensive!”

Well, maybe not in those words, but we really wanted to make sure she wasn’t going to be afraid.  She said, “I not afraid.  I like dinosaurs!”, so then we went ahead and got tickets for all of us to go.  Brian scored some pretty expensive good seats, so we had a little row all to ourselves in the third open row (the first four or five rows were closed due to huge, gnarly dinosaur tails going into the audience area).

I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to bring my camera in, but they let me through.  They didn’t want video camera’s to come in, although my camera was at least as big as some of those new fangled ones nowadays.  After the lights went down they said no flash photography, so I was glad I had my wonderful DSLR.  I did however have to shoot at 1600 ISO and f1.8 to get shots to turn out.  It was a little dark in the arena.  Of course, the rule of no flash photography was summarily ignored by most of the populace.  Because, you know, at that distance…the flash works SO WELL.

I didn’t get any good pictures of the kids because it was dark, dark, dark, AND I brought my 85 mm lens thinking I was going to be far away.  That wasn’t a problem, plus they were huge!  I couldn’t get far enough away from the kids to get decent shots of them in their seats and the ones I did get were blurry due to the ssslllloooowwww shutterspeed.  I really should have brought my 35mm f2.0 lens, but the SS would have still had to be super slow.

Both kids really enjoyed it – Kailan loves these shows, me thinks.  He really enjoyed Nemo on Ice and really liked this one.  Maybe someday we will take him to a movie, because they are much cheaper. 😉

Here are some of my favorite shots from the show.
