On New Year’s Eve, we went over to a friend’s house.  It was a fun, kid-friendly party, and they had a new type of karaoke machine.  It is an amplifier speaker, with a microphone stand in it, that you can connect to a tablet or other music device.    The kids (and this adult) had fun with it, so I thought I would get one for the house.

Because I don’t mind that kind of noise so much.  Screaming with no purpose…well, no.  Singing off-key to Frozen’s songs…this I can handle.

Anya loves to sing.  I did, too, when I was a kid.  I would make up songs on my solo trail rides, and serenade my horses in what was surely horrifically off-key, but songs sung with gusto.  I would have LOVED to have had something like this as a kid (much to the rest of the family’s horror, I’m sure).

I took it out of the box and we got it going.  I didn’t find the same one as our friends had, but it was close.  One thing is that you need to have the device below it’s max volume level or there is a lot of feedback on it.  I also bought an extra microphone, as I have two children, so two mics were pretty much a given.

They had great fun singing off key and with gusto…as they should.

Anya does a mean “Do you want to build a snowman” from Frozen.  She’s got that one nailed I tell you.

Kai is more interested in singing “Monster” from Skillet.  He’s a rocker, that one. \oo/
