I haven’t bought a new lens in probably 3 years, and I had rented this Nikkor 18-200 VR lens for our 10th anniversary vacation in Yosemite/Sonoma.  I was pretty happy with the lens and the versatility.  This is a great lens due to the wide range you get out of it.  It doesn’t have the pretty bokeh like my primes, but for a walk around lens it works pretty good.

My company gave us all gift cards for a Christmas present, with the intent that we could buy a new iPad with it if we so desired.  I desired for much more than another computer in the house, and I knew I was going to buy camera equipment.  I was really thinking hard on getting equipment for being able to do off camera flash, but I guess that will have to wait.  I still need to do some research to figure out all the things I will need to buy.

I really thought about getting a Tamron or Sigma lens, but in the end I knew what the Nikkor could do.  The other lenses do have good reviews but very few comparisons to the Nikkor.  Lenses last a long time, so I really didn’t want to buy a piece of crap and waste money on it.

We are planning a short trip to Vegas, so I decided to spring on the lens.  I can’t wait to get pictures of the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon.  I even bought a little tripod to bring with so I can get pictures of Brian and I…together!
