Sorry, two posts today, but I need to vent a little!

So, I get a call around noon from daycare that I need to come pick up Kai because they think he might have Fifth’s Disease.  Uck!  He came home yesterday with a rash on his cheeks, and I was thinking he might have had some allergy or something.  We’ve never had that in our house before.

I picked him up, and the teacher said that there was another kid that had it last week in the pre-K room.  She said she hadn’t heard of it before last week.  Hmmmm…not good.  I told her that I knew it was bad for the pregnant moms to be exposed to it and had they told them??  They had no idea.

Am I wrong in thinking that SOMEONE at the daycare should have known to inform the many pregnant moms that Fifth’s Disease was in the daycare??  There are three just in Kai’s room that I know.  I sent an e-mail to a few that I knew letting them know.  At least Kai was out for the most contagious part of it last week, since when the rash happens they aren’t contagious anymore.

After the doctor, who told me he was “textbook Fifths”, we went to Target so Kai could pick out a present for Anya (that was painful).  The daycare called me on my cell to check to make sure it was Fifth’s, since after me telling them that it was dangerous they must have actually done a little research.  I told them I already told a few of the mom’s.  Apparently, one had already called…I think she may have given them a piece of her mind. 😉

Normally, I’m pretty happy with our daycare, but this time I was pretty shocked they didn’t know better.
