You know when you completely run out of ideas? Yeah, that’s me right now. I am having a hard time coming up with things to make for dinner. So what did I do? Yep, bought some pizza fixins’. You can be as original as you want with pizza. You can do the basic cheese pizza or you can get original. Word of caution: I bought a package of those pre-made pizza crusts in the unfrigerated section…big mistake! I took them out of the package and they had a chemical smell to them. Maybe it was all the preservatives since they weren’t refrigerated. Ick! I would just get the Pillsbury pizza crusts…it will take a little longer to cook but at least it will taste good! Here’s a few ideas:
Basic:
Pizza sauce
Turkey pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese
Pesto:
Pesto sauce
leftover chicken, diced
tomatoes
1 ball of fresh mozzarella
Margherita:
Olive oil
Thinly slice tomatoes
1 ball of fresh mozzarella
Basil leaves, julienned
Garlic clove, thinly sliced
Fresh cracked black pepper and Salt
Hamburger Pizza:
Pizza sauce
ground beef, cooked
sliced pickles
Shredded cheddar
Taco Pizza:
Salsa or taco sauce
ground beef, cooked
Shredded cheddar or Shredded Mexican cheeses
1 tomato, seeded and diced
Shredded lettuce
Taco sauce for topping
Cook this pizza without the lettuce and fresh tomatoes. Add those afterwards.
Feel free to add whatever you have in your fridge. Basically, you just need cheese, a meat and some veggies. I keep cans of pizza sauce in the pantry and try to keep some of the pizza crust in the fridge. An easy weeknight dinner!
I love making pizza the throw-what-you-have-on-it style. My boys have actually learned to make their own. Hooray!
Your ideas look yumo.
Mmmm….pesto pizza. Now that sounds good!
It’s going to be pizza tonight for us, I think! Melody, I think that having the kids make their own pizza’s is a great idea. I want to introduce my kids to cooking and that is one of the things that they can do themselves. 🙂
