Anya’s daycare teacher, Miss Megan, told us we should try to send her in with underpants. She had been going on a good month of staying dry most of the day at daycare. I should really put that in big bold letters….she stays dry at daycare. Unfortunately, this didn’t usually translate at home where she has her personal servants do her bidding for her. She really wasn’t overly concerned with controlling her bodily functions. She just wanted to fart and pee at will.
Starting at daycare was an attempt to start easy. She has all that peer pressure there, where some of her little friends are potty trained already. If she masters the potty at daycare, hopefully it will be so dang fun to not sit in her urine that she will decide that it is the thing for her to do. Because really, she wouldn’t want to dirty her precious My Little Pony and Miss Kitty underpants, right?
Day 1 – Success! She stayed dry all day (went to bed with a pull-up, though). I can’t really express how shocked I was that she was wearing the same clothes as when she went to daycare. Just shocked.
Day 2 – Another Success! Again she stayed dry all day and even during nap (she had a pull-up on during nap the day before). She was quite indignant when Miss Megan suggested that she wear a pull-up during nap so she went without.
Day 3 – She did pretty good most of the day, but she was a little wet when she came home. Since she had just gone potty, it was most likely just that she peed a little on herself. Oh, what fun stuff they have to learn as girls!
Day 4 – Success…again! She did very well, and when we went out to dinner at a restaurant that night she had no problem using the strange bathrooms. In fact, she had to go three times while we were there! I’m sure you can imagine that she really didn’t need to go all that much, and it was just a ruse most of the time. At least it is good that she is interested and doesn’t hesitate to go in a strange place.
Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8 – Success, with only two accidents. She even made it during the 2 hour car trips back and forth to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We aren’t attempting nighttime training yet, though. I imagine that will be a few months, but no diapers during the day is just lovely!
I think we are on a roll…yeah, baby! No more diapers, here we come….Whooooohooooo!
I’m so jealous. So. JEALOUS.
Wahoo! Way to go Anya! We are working on it over here, too. Soooo not ready for it, but little miss A. is. So we are jumping in with both feet.
Keep us updated.
I know I’m not really ready for it, since we are constantly going to the potty. We don’t use a little potty, just the big one, so she needs help. It is getting tiring, but I am glad that she is getting it. I can definitely live without smelling pee filled diapers!
Yay, Anya! Super exciting! Sounds like she was really ready for it and doing just great. It’ll be nice to be done with diapers…but at the same time, I must say I am NOT looking forward to the potty training days!
