On Friday I took the kids to one of the parks in our suburb. At least they give us good parks for all the taxes that they charge! This one has very cool slides. The park is a bit below the level of the parking lot and there are slides for the kids to get down there. Very fun!
There weren’t very many people that were around, but there were a few other kids. One of the other little boys thought the slide belonged to him. Of course, his father was just sitting there while he stood in the way at the entrance of the slide and didn’t share. Not saying a word to his little bully son. So, I went up there and told the kids to just go down…especially when the kid went in the slide but didn’t go down all the way and just stayed in it. I figured he would get out once the kids came toward him! Still, no word from his father. Ugh! There are definitely some people that need to learn how to parent. We are teaching our kids how to treat other people, even at such a young age. I’m sure that little boy will be extremely pleasant later in life and his parents will wonder just how he got to be that way. I wonder!
The race is on!
I would have gone down the slide and said, “Hope you’re moving cuz I’m coming.” Really loud. I hate that, too. Especially when we try to teach our children to be patient and wait your turn. I also hate when parents bring their kids to the park and then they sit.
And how fun is that to have the slides from the parking lot. I really like that last picture.
Shoot, I’d have asked that little boy to move. Politely, but I’d have done it. Then if he didn’t move I’d have calmly slid over him myself. Someone’s gotta teach them right from wrong!
Well, when the little guy saw me coming toward him he finally went down. I was going to talk to him since his father apparently wasn’t! That slide is definitely tons of fun! I didn’t let them go down on the metal slides since if they fell, it would really hurt.
I’m with you, Stacy. I’ve often had to speak to other children regarding social graces because their parents seemed oblivious.
The slides are awesome! All those steps for kids to run up and get really, really tired. 🙂 Love the race to the top shot.
I love the racing up the steps shot! So great.
And I’m totally with you on the frustrating lack of playground etiquette. From the parents!!
I’m frustrated by absent parenting, too…we work so hard to teach our kids right and wrong, how to share and cooperate, only to be met with this from others.
But still – sounds like an awesome park with those slides!
