I asked Brian to buy me the Silhouette cutter for Christmas last year.  I sent him the link and everything, so I got the right one! 😉  The main thing I wanted was to make sure I could use my own artwork, so I needed the Silhouette Studio program.  I also wanted the Cameo over the Portrait, so I could cut wider designs.

It actually took me awhile to get it out of the box.  The winter and spring was pretty busy with work, so I didn’t have a lot of time (or energy!) to figure it out.  I finally got it out of the box later in the summer and the first real project I used it for was Kai’s knight vest.

Then Brian accidentally dropped it on the floor, but I digress. I was able to mostly fix it…it is just a bit LOUD when in use!

When Anya and I were at Michael’s a week or so ago, I saw they had some iron-on heat transfer rolls for the Cricut.  Same type of cutting machine, so I bought some silver glitter to give it a try.

It’s all about the *sparkle* don’t you know?!

I had a downloaded unicorn from the Silhouette store, so I used that and it worked out pretty good.  I made a black shirt with silver on the neckline and cuffs.  She was quite pleased!

Next was a shirt for me.  I drafted a princess seamed top.  I put two designs on the front, and a matching design on each arm.

This was black iron on vinyl from Silhouette.  It cut a bit differently than the glitter, and I had to cut it twice on the machine.  This stuff is a bit expensive to have a whole section be scrapped, so maybe learn from me.  Try a small piece first!

I really like how the designs worked out, but the shirt fits a bit loose.  It is a knit that doesn’t have a ton of stretch.  Oh well.  Next time I will make it a bit smaller.  This one is the comfy-I-ate-a-big-meal version!

I also made the leggings out of pattern I drafted.  It is a stretch twill in a python design.

Now I need to heal up my sprain, which I did later that night after taking the pictures above.  Darn black ice!
