As you know, we did a lot of painting in the last 6 months.  To that end, I bought the paint chip sampler from Sherwin Williams to make it easier to pick colors at home.  I pulled all of the pink ones and Anya chose hot pink to be the color of her room.  Ummm…no.  That can be an accent color, Sweetie.  I’m not sure I could have handled it as the main color of the room.  In the end we agreed on these colors (Ice Plant and Panache Pink).

She wanted swirlies in her room, and she wanted pink and purple.  I didn’t have any purple on hand, so I educated the little miss on color mixing.  Good thing we have so very many colors of paint.  I drew out three designs on heavy plastic, cut them out, taped them to the wall and rolled the paint on.  All the wall designs in the house are like snowflakes…each one is unique!  I toss the plastic after it is all full of paint.  Good thing it takes me 2 minutes to draw one of them.  As per the usual, I had to do some touch ups for smoother lines.  I rather like how they turned out.  Here are closeups of them.

Then it was time to decorate.  I went to my decorating mecca, Homegoods, and found three rugs that I could tape together for one big rug to play on.  They were $15/each, so pretty reasonable.  They shed a bit, so I have to make sure I don’t sit on it when I’m all ready for work in the morning and wearing black pants.  Guess that’s what you get when it is cheap, huh? I also got her the lamp there, as well.  All the furniture was bought when she was in the womb.

We purchased the kids’ furniture for the rest of their lives while living with us when they were still baking.  Both their cribs turned into full sized beds.  Anya’s bed is a bit higher up than really necessary, so she has to have a footstool.  I am going to repaint the one she has right now, since it is a honey colored wood.  I’ll get that recon up when it is finished.  So much for hanging up the brushes. *sigh*  I just couldn’t buy a new one when we had one that was perfectly good at home, albeit the wrong color.

The artwork for the walls will just have to wait.  I kinda want to draw up some fairies to put in frames, but I haven’t had the chance to work on that yet.  It is on the very long to-do list.  Her bedspread doesn’t really match that well – it’s pink and green.  I’ll have to look for a new one for this room.  I’ll just see what I can find on sale…or maybe someday I’ll feel the urge to learn how to quilt.  Whatever gets done first…I’m counting on the sale thing.

Storage is still a work in process.  Children basically ignore it at any rate.  At least ours do…we really need to work on the whole…put-your-stuff-away-when-you-are-done-playing-already!  They act like we are subjecting them to kryptonite when we ask them to clean up their rooms.  The energy drain on their bodies is quite tangible, exacerbated by their dialogue of how they are SO TIRED by the act of cleaning. *sigh*

I made a few things for the space.  Her princess curtains:

Her purple pillows on the floor were rather well received.  Sooooo very soft, and perfect for lounging upon.  So very cheap, too, since I got the minkee on sale.  Bonus!

The office is a work in progress, so it will probably be awhile before I post that one.  After switching the rooms, we kind of just put all the piles of stuff in the office with the vision that we would organize and go through everything.  Yeah…hasn’t happened yet.  It’s a mess.
