Hey look…another swimsuit! I like easy-ish projects, and especially those that will be worn. The kids are swimming 2-4 times a week, so swimsuits are definitely in the “useful” category. These are comfy and easy for her to get on and off.

Sometimes the fabrics kind of suck, though. If it is too slippery and shiny the stitches tend to skip. Not fun. I thought this would be that kind of fabric, but it actually sewed up rather well.  I did have to do two layers on the bottoms since it was a bit thin.  I just couldn’t say no to purple and silver and stars. This is what happened when she saw it:

Me: *taking the fabric out of the dryer on Thursday night at around 8pm* What swimming suit do you want to wear tomorrow?

Anya: *pointing at piece of fabric in my hands* That one!

Me: Uh…no. How about the new pink and yellow one? I will make one this weekend with the fabric. NOT tonight.

Anya: Okay. *grabs new suit out of my hands* I don’t want ruffles on it.

Me: Sounds good! *much easier on me that way*

We went to the beach on Sunday for a few hours of summertime fun, so here is a picture of her wearing her new suit that I made on Saturday.  It was an absolutely beautiful summer day at the beach.

Here she is wearing a coverup that I made her this winter…finally wearing it I should say.  I made it for “beach day” at school when they were supposed to wear their swimming suits.  In the middle of winter.  I figured she would be cold.  Alas it was not worn, but at least she finally got to wear it.  It is made of white and cream terry cloth with a zipper down the front.

Then I made her two more skorts, which she really likes and wore right away.

It is doubtful that I will get anything sewn up for next week, since I can’t seem to find time to exercise AND sew during the week.  This next weekend is going to be a full one, too, so I don’t forsee any sewing time.  Oh well…summertime is for having fun and getting out and about!
