This weekend with the nieces was very nice. After picking up the girls on Friday we went for some girl time (a.k.a SHOPPING). I got a couple cute pairs of sandals, which is always a good thing. If you can’t fit into your clothes, you can always fall back on cute shoes…am I right, Ladies??
On our way home we picked up the little ones from daycare, so the nieces could see where the kids spend their days. Friday night we stayed in and grilled some steaks and watched Stardust. I was hoping we could have a fire that night, but it was soooo windy that it wasn’t a good idea.
Saturday was a busy day. We got up, had some breakfast and made for the zoo. We made it through and saw almost everything there, but missed the Dolphin Show, unfortunately. One of the girls really wanted to see that, but when we got there it was full. Bummer.
The kids each brought stuffed animals along. Anya was going to show her piggy to the piggy, and Kailan was going to show his elephant and zebra to the elephants and zebras. Unfortunately there were no elephants or zebras for Kailan, but there was a wild boar for Anya to yell, “Piggy! Piggy! See Piggy!” Yeah, they are all ours…jealous aren’t ya?
After the zoo we went home to rest for a few hours, change, and go to one of our favorite restaurants. Really good food, and home of one of our favorite desserts…the budino. The girls didn’t think they had enough room for dessert, but a warm flourless chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream won them over. Yum, yummy, yum!
Of course we still had room for smores by the fire later…there’s always room for smores!
Sunday we didn’t have a lot of time before their sister came to pick them up, so we went to a couple of homes on the luxury home tour here. We were glad they were up for it, since it is so fun to go into $1.5M – $2.0M homes and check them out. When we got back, Heather was into looking at more homes, so we went to two more homes and then hit Buca’s for dinner before they headed home.
We all had a good time!
Seeing the grizzly bears
It’s great having helpers keep track of the kiddos!
Looking at the fishes
The kiddos and their animals
It was really humid and warmish…taking a rest in the tiger area.

I bet the kids loved having them around! And I’m sure having them around to help at the zoo was nice!
I love going to the zoo with my brother and sister-in-law. The extra hands are so wonderful!
Sounds like a great weekend…I’m glad you had such a nice time. did you take any photos of the fancy homes?
Shoes are helpful I have to agree. Although I shop for myself so infrequently I would love a new pair of shoes. The last time I bought a pair was January. Somehow that seems kind of sad doesn’t it…
Sounds like a good busy weekend though. I think it’s cute the kids all took their stuffed animals to the zoo to say hi. W.W. likes to say hi and bye to all the animals we visit at the zoo too. 🙂
I’m willing to bet the kids loved having your nieces around as much as you. LOL at the “piggy” episode and the photo of A and K with their animals at the window is my fave.
And yeah, cute shoes are a must.
What fun! And it looks like your zoo is pretty great — I have zoo envy!
Love the one of the kids with thier stuffed animals. That is priceless. Glad you had a good time. O and Bucca….YUMMY!
I love that picture of your kiddos and their animals…just perfect! Sounds like a fun weekend…you will have to remind me what this shopping thing you are talking about is 😉
That is awesome. How very fun…is that Brookfield? I didn’t know they had dolphin shows!!
What a full weekend of fun! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Anya looking anything less than highly fashionable. Too funny about the piggies. I LOVE looking at the fancy houses.
Great photos! looks like you all had a great time! Love the shades your sun is wearing!
We haven’t been to the zoo yet this year. It has either been storming or incredibly hot. I’m looking forward to going, though. Last year Rachel was too small to remember. It will be neat to see how a 3yo views the animals. 🙂
