This weekend was another full one. My parents came on Friday night and we had a good evening with them. I made maple glazed salmon, grilled veggies and Mom brought some fresh strawberries that we paired with angel food cake and fresh whipped cream. Yum! We had some good wine and good conversation. We stayed up until 1 am just sitting on the deck and talking. It was so nice.
The next morning we had a good breakfast and then they took the kids home with them. We had a wine tasting/drinking at our house on Saturday night so we thought the kids would actually get some sleep if they weren’t at home. I made a ton of food, which took me around 3 hours, so it was nice to just be able to focus on that. The menu?
- Sirloin tips and mushrooms in a soy and worcestershire sauce
- Hamburger/sausage meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce
- Mushroom caps stuffed with cream cheese, bacon and walnuts
- Brit’s pub artichoke dip
- Caramelized onion and goat cheese dip
- Caprese salad
- Strawberry shortcake dessert
- Cheese plate (aged gruyere, dubliner and brie cheeses) paired with red grapes
The amount of wine we went through was ridiculous, but then we think everyone had a good time. Brian had such a good time that he couldn’t get up on Sunday to go get the kids with me. He had a little headache. I left at 12:30 to get them, so it wasn’t like I was moving all that fast either. 😉
It was really nice to have people over with our yard blooming. There are tons of flowers blooming right now, and we finally get to see our Asian Iris bloom this year. The bunnies usually de-bud them before they bloom. For some reason they haven’t done that this year and have only eaten about 1.5 of them.
Gratuitious kid shot. 😉
I actually made a few things tonight. Another swim suit for Anya (the one she was wearing in the pictures last week is from last summer – it’s pretty difficult to get on her!) and a baby blanket for a neighbor. I’ll actually have something to post on Tuesday! And in getting ready for the house guests we thoroughly cleaned the house and weeded the garden, so I feel like life is in order a bit over here. It’s a good feeling. 🙂
Gorgeous shots, as always. I just LOVE his eyes…they are mezmerizing!
And also, can I come over to your house to eat?! YUM!
Yeah…I’m thinking we have a bloggy friend party at Stacy’s…and eat ourselves silly! YUM!! I’ll bring the wine 🙂
Looks like everything is blooming and beautiful over there as always, and I’m glad you are starting the week off “in order.” It is always a nice way to start, huh?
I want to come to the next wine drinking (er…tasting) at your house. I so love me some good wine, and your menu was divine.
Those photos are exquisite. Even the gratuitous one.
Yum yum yum! I so want to eat at your house, and your gardens are divine. Mmmmmm……
Man, good food, wine, beautiful garden. I live in the wrong state.
Gee, I sure wish I lived closer! I cleaned the house this weekend, and did laundry…but I didn’t have a single taste of wine 🙂
I always love looking at your pictures!
As a quick note…I think you mean “Asian Lily” rather than “Asian Iris”. 🙂
What a glorious weekend! Family, friends, good food, wine, a LOVELY landscape…what could be better? It is a good feeling when all is right and where it should be! Always love looking at your shots…
My faves are always Gratuitious kid shots 🙂
If you ever decide spectacular photography and sewing masterpieces aren’t your thing…you could always be a caterer. My gosh, that menu sound divine! I’m expecting an invite to the next big event!
LOVE the lili picture, such vibrant colors. I bet that was the 85mm, huh?
are you kidding me? that’s just mean.
I shouldn’t be hungry, but dang I’m suddenly STARVING!!!
Love your little guy’s eyes – what an amazing color.
Those flowers are so vivid. And his eyes in that portrait? Too, too gorgeous.
Those flower photos are amazing!!
AND that food!! O M G… yum-o! Can I come over next time??
I love it when I have a clean house (mostly if my kitchen is clean, I feel good). Sounds like yo uhad a nice time. Its always a good thing when the kids go to Grandma’s and you two can have a night with friends. The lily is beautiful. Such rich colors.
Your blooming garden is so beautiful. 🙂 I have one plant blooming and it is enough but I’d like more. If only the wind would stop blowing.
Sounds like a nice weekend. And when the parents visit, who wouldn’t drink a ridiculous amount of wine. When my parents visit, we do too. It’s fun.
Those eyes! What a cutie pie. The rose shot is stunning. So summer!
That sounds like an awesome weekend. And hilarious the the wine left a bit of a hangover it sounds like! 🙂
where do you get the time to be super woman, Stacy??? You are amazing…photographer, gardener, chef, seamstress…all in one weekend?
I am so hungry…. nothing say summer to me like strawberries, whip cream and cake. Latelty we have been indulging in that everynight after dinner.
Sounds like fun. The flower pics are stunning. I love that red. I didn’t get my flowers seeded in time (weather had something to do with it) and they aren’t flowering yet.
The flowers are gorgeous!!! And the “kid” shot is awfully cute too!
So Beautiful! I love the colors in the first shot.
