I tried this recipe before and it was pretty good. I decided to modify it a little bit, so here is my version…
1 round steak, thinly sliced
1/4 cup of cornstarch
2 TBSPS oil (I used wok oil)
1/2 teaspoon of minced ginger (about 1 inch piece)
1-2 tablespoons minced garlic (about 4-5 cloves)
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
3-5 green onions, sliced crosswise
1 cup fresh green beans (haricots verts, thin green beans), cut in one inch pieces
I like to have the steak be slightly frozen, so it is easier to cut into thin slices. Pat off the excess moisture and roll in the corn starch.
Turn on the wok, or heat over the stove to make it hot.
Add a tablespoon of oil and then add the ginger and garlic. Stir around a bit and make sure it doesn’t burn. After a few minutes, put in the water, soy sauce, sugar and pepper flakes. Get all the sugar disolved and then allow it to boil a little bit.
Pour into a heat safe glassware.
Add the rest of the oil to the wok and saute the meat until no longer red. Add in the veggies and then in a few minutes add the sauce. Allow everything to cook for a few minutes and the sauce will thicken.
Serve it hot with quinoa. I cooked the quinoa with beef broth, so it had a bit more flavor.
A quick weeknight dinner!
It looks yummy, perfect that it is gluten and dairy free, too !
The serving plate looks like it is made in France, is it?
