*Sniff* Kai is getting so big!
Yesterday we took the front off of his crib and turned it into a toddler bed. This is a huge step to big boy-hood. Why is he 2.5 years old and still sleeping in a crib, you ask? Well, he never tried to climb out. That would require effort. It is much easier to just lay there and scream for your parents to come and get you.
Kai was not quite sure he wanted to take that step. He went to bed and kept asking me to put the front back on, but I told him he is a big boy now so he can sleep without the front on, right?? *Please, please don’t throw a fit about it right now!!*
So, what prompted us to take this gigantic step forward? 2 words….Potty Training. If he is in his crib and has to go potty in the middle of the night he can’t escape, so we needed to take off the front.
He has been doing so well this week. Yesterday he went in the potty 3 times! Whoo Hoo…we’re getting there! Our trick…no pressure. This is a kid that breaks down into a puddle of sobs if he is pressured too much, so we are just taking it slow. If he wants to go, we help him out, but if he doesn’t…Hey, that’s okay too! No pressure here! We don’t want any set backs.
He now has some friendly competition at daycare since Avery is starting to think that this whole potty thing is a good idea since Kai is doing it. Yesterday she went on the potty once, so she washed her hands, got her sticker, and ran up to Kai to tell him. You have to share those big milestones, you know!
