A few weeks ago an ad popped up in my Facebook feed for tickets to Wizard Con at the convention center. We didn’t have plans this weekend, and thought the kids would have a blast at it. We had never been to one of these conventions before, but have seen things about them. Mostly, I love to look at the costumes some of the Cosplayers make for the conventions.
So…I had to make some costumes! I made an Elsa and a Wizard from Clash of Clans in time for the convention (I will post details on the costumes, too).
(Anya has a cape, too…we were leaving at this point, so she wanted it off)
We hadn’t even gotten into the front doors of the convention and a little girl had already asked to be in a picture with her. She made a pretty darn good Elsa. I braided her hair and she even has little crystally things in it.
She got stopped many times for compliments on her costume, and was asked for pictures several times. She was pretty happy with it the attention and was gracious and said, “Thank you”. Kai’s costume is a bit more obscure, as he was a wizard from the video game Clash of Clans. One person knew who he was, so someone did get it, at least.
It was VERY crowded. I don’t think around noontime on Saturday is the best day to go. Note for the future! We didn’t stay very long, since the kids were tired of getting jostled and I didn’t really blame them.
A Magic card booth for our Magic card kid
There were some pretty cool costumes. I didn’t get many pictures as I was trying to keep track of the kids, look at the booths and just people watch. We saw Michael Rooker, Ralph Macchio, James Hong, and Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) from afar. The super famous people weren’t at the autograph booths when we went through that section. We both wanted to see Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Serenity). He seems pretty fun.

So…next year we will have a better idea of what to do and when to go. Plus…awesome costumes again for both the kids. 🙂
