Hey, back to Pinterest! I know it is no longer August, but I made this in August. I just didn’t get any pictures taken of it.
This is my take on this Desingual skirt I found and pinned. I did the yoke and pockets, but pretty much everything else is a bit different from the original inspiration:
The fabric I used on top is some sort of cotton blend. It looked a bit like linen, though I am pretty sure it is not. It is thinner than I would have liked, so I put a circle skirt underneath from a slippery rayon material. I hemmed the skirt skirt in bias binding, as I hate hemming circle skirts.
So…this was a PITA. When I ironed the fabric it spread, so the lining and the outside fabric did not match up at all. All sorts of things were going wrong while I made this thing, so I am QUITE GLAD I AM DONE. It looks nice on the hanger, but it bunches from the above stated issues. Not sure I will wear it again.
I had enough of the circle skirt fabric leftover to make up a top. This is a pattern I drafted before, so it was pretty easy to throw it together. I can throw a black sweater over the top of it during the winter to get more use out it, too. The neckline is a gathered a bit in the middle and then it is just a funnel neck piece. Not too difficult, though it took me forever to finish it up.
You know how things can just sit there, and sit there, and sit there, even though you know it will take you just a half hour to get it completed? Yep…I think it took me three weeks to tackle it.
I added some shirring in the back because it was a bit too big and that brought it in a little bit.
Amazingly enough I do have more I am working on. My goal this week is to do something sewing related each night. Hopefully, I can accomplish that!
