I belong to a group on Facebook for testing patterns, which I am not overly active in.   A lot of the patterns are for younger kids, or not something my kids would wear, so I tend to not test.

I saw this bag come up, checked it out, and loved the design!

The pattern is primarily made for quilting cottons, which are interfaced, but I used an old suede shirt that I no longer wear.  The inside of the bag is leftovers from making this one.

There are A LOT of pieces in this pattern.

Seriously.

It isn’t something you can just sit down and complete in 2 hours, either.  It was, however, a satisfying and professionally finished project.  I think my little bag looks pretty awesome.

I cut the pieces all out one night (took an hour or so).  Then, the next night I started at about 9pm after it was clear the Packers were giving the Vikings an old fashioned wupping, and I no longer needed to watch.  I cried uncle at about 2am when all I had to do to finish was to make the strap.

Work in the morning…you know.  Somehow they expect your mind to be present when they pay you to show up.

Plus, I had to do some math, and math at 2am is generally different than math at say, 10am.  Namely, it will be all sorts of wrong.

I got it finished up the next day.  I couldn’t find a slider the right size, so I decided to use snaps to adjust the length from cross body to shorter.

Here is how I reinforced the pretty rhinestone rivets and gave them some extra padding with heavy interfacing:

This is what the inside of the bag looks like:

This is what my awesome new bag looks like!

It is a tiny little thing compared to some of my other bags.  No DSLR camera is going to fit in here, but it does hold the essentials for just running errands.  I will probably make another in a color that is a bit more neutral.  It is fun to have some bright colored bags, though.  🙂
