Another year is coming to a close, and yet again I did not get everything done that I wanted to do.
This seems to happen every year.
We have been home with the kids for most of the past two weeks, and have been mainly lounging about in our jammies when not running from place to place or hosting parties. I had hoped to get more things made for the kids and me during the past week or so, but the plans did not come to fruition.
Like usual.
I did get a few things made:
- 3 pairs of fleece pants for Anya and two matching shirts
- 2 pairs of fleece pants for Kai and two matching shirts
- 2 fleece ski masks for Anya and 1 ski mask for Kai
- A quilted bassinet liner and sheet for my niece and her husband
- A nice furry infinity scarf for a friend
I even got a picture of one or two things on the list above. Clearly, I have been slacking.
The picture of the kids shows them sporting flannel pants I made for them back in November. They had a “PJ Day” for a spirit week at school, so here they are in all their glory. Kai has also been wearing those pants for most of the last week.
Ah, vacation.
They are photographed here in our three season porch that is no more. We had it taken down a few weeks ago, along with our deck. Both were slowly falling off the house. Things like that happen when a previous homeowner puts up a deck without getting permits or inspections and does it wrong. The three season porch leaked, too, and we rarely used it. We will put up a new deck in the spring and then a patio where the old deck was (which covered up our basement windows). It is amazing how much light we have in our house now that the three season porch is gone.
Windows are going in next week, so you know…fun. Not exactly the timing we were promised, as the first week in January, or really any time in January or February where you have sub-zero temperatures, is a good time to open up your house to the elements. The heat bill will likely be high, but nothing when compared to the cost of the windows.
I am going to defer the normal “here are my resolutions” for the next year. I could pretty much copy and paste from the last year, which as usual, were unmet. Basically, lose weight, spend more time with the kids, sew more, yada yada yada.
Actually…I could add one. Do more writing.
I have been working on a character (heroine) in a fiction book series. It is not anything that I intend to share at this point, but it is fun to create her world.
Because, you know…I needed another hobby.
Happy New Year to all!
Oh goodness it is good to know we are all basically in the same boat!
I love that you have also taken on writing! Definitely good for the soul.
Happy New Year!!
I have come to realize I am not a great writer, and that it can be hard. Sometimes I can write a ton, and then other times it is a struggle because I can’t think of the word I want to use. My brain seems to have stopped working as well as it did in the past. I remember when I could think quicker LOL! It is fun diversion, though, so I am enjoying it. 🙂
Happy new year! I’m catching up. Have fun with your new writing hobby. You’re so talented, there’s nothing you can’t do!
Well, thanks, Rachel! 🙂
