My family knows me so well.
For my birthday in December they all gave me gift cards for Michael’s craft store, which amounted to around a $100 all together. I finally had a chance to go do a little shopping, and one of the things I wanted to do was knit an infinity scarf.
I had not used the long looms before, though I had purchased them years ago. When I first started loom knitting, I bought just about all of the looms.
I tend to go overboard with my crafting obsessions.
On this scarf I used the 18 inch loom. I was going to make it like this tutorial, but decided to just do a big cowl. I ended up using 4 skeins of yarn on it (total = $24), which was an Isaac Mizrahi variegated 15% wool/85% acrylic.
I can’t do 100% wool due to a wool sensitivity. This was pretty decent on the itchiness scale.
It took probably 8 hours or so to knit this. It was pretty easy, though time consuming. It is nice to have a project to do while watching tv or listening to music. When I finished it up, I made sure that the color on both ends were the same and then used the big knitting needle to sew them together.
It is a little big. If I were to do it again, I would probably keep it to 3 – 3.5 skeins. Total yardage on this was around 270 yards.
It is nice and warm, which is needed this week. There was a dangerous wind chill advisory on Monday and the rest of the week we are starting out our mornings in the negative territory, hoping to make it above zero at some point.
BRRRRRRRR!
Gorgeous colors!! It looks great on you too:)
Thanks, Michelle! 🙂
I looooove the colors! so rich!
Thanks, Tasha! I think the colors will go well with a lot of my clothes. 🙂
It’s beautiful but I am confused. You knitted it on a loom? It took 8 hours? Why not hand knit? Just wondering…
Well, this is a pretty big and thick scarf, so that is partly why it took so long. Another thing is that I don’t know how to knit regularly, and right now, I don’t really fell like learning it either. The loom knitting is mindless and easy, so that is good enough for me right now! 🙂
Looking good! Those are totally your colors because they look so good on you! I had no idea that Isaac Mizrahi made yarn!!
Thanks! Oh, that man will put his name on a box of Kleenex if someone gives him money for it. I think he has become a caricature of a designer now, though I do love the colors of that yarn. 🙂
