This pattern testing thing is sure getting me to dive deep into my stash fabrics!  It is also making me have a sewing timetable, where I have to get them done, so it is has been a great impetus to get my stash sewed up.

Added plus…I don’t have to draft anything.

The top here is a new pattern from Simple Life Pattern Company, called Rayann’s Retro Top.  It is made for wovens, but I did some stash diving.  If you haven’t noticed…I haven’t bought any fabric for these projects.  During February I was trying to not buy anything, and luckily I had plenty to use up!  This shirt has a woven with glitter on it for the bodice, rayon for the sleeves and lining, and the skirt and belt is a crushed velvet.

I think she likes it…she’s worn it twice already.

It is a woven top that slips over the head, with a belt at the waist to bring it in.  I made a size 10, and it fit pretty well.  She made some adjustments afterwards, as it was fitting a size too small width-wise.  Anya would have fit a size 8 width, and size 10 length, so it worked out well for her.

The pattern has been updated, so it fits true to the measurements on it now.

This top is actually a few layers short of the original top pattern.  I ran out of velvet to add another layer, but I actually prefer this length.  Any longer and it would look like a dress, and not a top.  She changed the pattern to a shorter length, and it is actually about an inch shorter for the final version.  I have another one I sewed up that I will post later.

I also made a pair of the SLPco Emilya’s skinny pants in a size 8W, 12L.

I did some fussy cutting for the layer on the bottom of the top, so I had some fabric left over from that.  I ironed the edges underneath, and added them to the side seam.  I did all the topstitching in pink thread, so it matches up with the top pretty nicely.

She loved this cute little outfit!  I had her try it on to take pictures before church one Sunday night, and then she also wore it to school the next day.

As part of the pattern testing, the designer wants nice pictures to showcase them.  When I took these is was negative degrees outside, and I wasn’t going to subject her to taking pictures in the frigid temps.  I am running out of rooms in the house, though!

These pictures were taken on a small wall in her room that was at most 3 feet wide.  I had to Photoshop the background to take out nails that hung up a bunch of fairies, light switch plates and had to extend the wall and carpet out.  Hopefully, it isn’t too noticeable, but if you look at the carpet you can see where I cloned it.  I probably could have spent more time to make it look more natural, but it was a Sunday night after my last sewing class…I was tired.
