Doesn’t have quite the ring of last year’s princess and pirate, but it will have to do. 😉  Here are our beloved children in their costumes.  Anya got quite a few ooh’s and aah’s over her costume today…makes the seamstress in me proud. Of course, she was quite cute, so it could have been that, too. 🙂  Kai was of course quite the strong and gallant, ummmm, Power Ranger.  I think he has seen the show a few times, but not at our house, eh, Aunt Susie (sorry, he laid the blame squarely on your feet!).

In their costumes.  Can you hear them saying, “Hurry up woman!”

On their way out to lay seige to the neighborhood.  Kai’s sword doesn’t exactly go with his costume…but he knew he needed to have something to fight the bad guys.  He figured out the best carry for it, too…he’s a crafty one.

Oh, yeah…CANDY!

The booty – they ate until they could eat no more…

We let them eat their fill of candy, whereby afterwards they decided to have several races and laughed and then they started twitching and bounced off the walls.  We just watched as we drank a 90 point bottle of Collier Falls Private Reserve Zinfandel.  That was fun.  Then they came down from their sugar highs and hurt each other and started crying.  That was not fun.  Then it was definitely time for bed. 😉

Tonight mommy and daddy are going to their own costume party.  Hopefully I will manage to get a picture of the vampiress and buchaneer/pirate.  No we don’t match, but I didn’t have time to make an appropriate dress.  I am using parts from a few costumes in years past.  I had to make Brian’s vest, but he didn’t have the right boots, so he is just wearing jeans and black roper boots.   Next year at the Ren Fest we will buy him some gear for a real costume…he needs to have the right costume for his very nice rapier and main gauche swords. 🙂

Theme Thursday – imagination

I was going to go with Halloween, but I’m sure everyone will be posting their cute children in costume long before Thursday. I figured this would be a good theme, since it is something we should/are fostering in our children. 🙂
