Rachel tagged me for 6 Random Facts, and since I am usually very bad at doing these I thought I could get at least this one done. Here are 6 random things that are going on in our lives right now. 🙂
- My mom and dad rescued this pretty 9 year old girl from the dog pound. The poor girl had to get spayed at NINE before they would let her go home with them. She is such a nice dog and Anya LIKED HER. (In case you didn’t know she used to scream bloody murder when a dog approached her…for no reason.) I told mom I would take Dakota if she didn’t want her. 🙂 Look at those kind eyes…and she has manners! What a good “puppy”.
- Instead of a puppy, the kids have this cat. She’s going to have a rude awakening when we get a dog next spring. 😉 Of course, I think she is part dog, since she actually loves people and carries toys around in her mouth like a dog does. She was also a stray cat…we don’t really care about breeds in our house. Next spring I’m hoping we can find a dog at the Humane Society that is like Dakota, only younger. The kids have been more excited about dogs now, and especially Anya. She is still nervous around them, but she doesn’t cry and shake in fear.
- Speaking of crying and shaking in fear…in the last month Anya has been screaming when we filled the bathtub more than 2 inches. Reason?? Who knows! She still goes in the water at swimming, but yet having the bathwater over her toes is meltdown time. At least now she likes showers since they have had to get used to them at the pool center. Kai likes to play in the tub though and is a bit disgruntled at his sister over the whole deal.

My Dad lost feeling in part of his face and his eye wouldn’t close last weekend. Thankfully, the doctor thinks it was just an infection after an MRI didn’t show anything wrong. That was pretty darn worrisome. Hopefully the drugs do their thing quickly!

When we get ready in the morning, Kailan gets up and goes into the guest bedroom, turns on the TV and watches cartoons while he waits. He’s our early bird. Lately I have been hearing him talk to the TV…during commercials. “I want that!”, is often heard. Oy! We are going to have the kids write letters to Santa this year and he is really going to have a hard time narrowing it down to one gift. 😉

I feel a bit hopeless after the election. I’m afraid we are veering into Socialism with the far left elections yesterday and that really, really worries me. I know there are a lot of people that are excited about CHANGE, but change for the worse is not necessarily good. Having no checks and balances in place in Congress and the Presidency is not a good thing, since basically a little less than half of our country is not being represented by their decisions. It is what it is right now…we can only hope and pray for the best.
Ok first off Stacy Great photo’s! I have lots of pictures of my loving kittys on my flickr in case you haven’t noticed lol. My kiddies are all grown so they’ve become pseudo kids to us I think!
Secondly I’m all the way with you on your thoughts about the presidency. Yes I too am worried about the Socialist attitude. But like you; I can’t do anything more than HOPE that somehow things will all work out..
Good for you for posting your thoughts about it. Kudo’s!
Birthday and Christmas are going to be very different this time around, with her new discovery of the phrase “I want that!” Oy. Gone is the innosence.
I will be praying with you Stacy!
I had to explain to the boys this morning that Obama is our president now…we have to respect him and support him as best we can and then vote again in 4 years. No whining and badmouthing–it won’t do any good and it’s not patriotic. Hopefully he will prove me wrong. Hopefully.
Did the doctor eliminate Bell’s Palsy as a cause for your dad’s symptoms? Sounds like it could be.
I don’t vote, I don’t do politics. At all. But did you just describe the last 8 yrs in your last paragraph and then imply that’s what we are going to get now. It’s here, I think.
Now what?
Armageddon.
I left you a comment below regarding our different views on politics.
Dakota is adorable !! You’re so right about the kind eyes !!
I’m interested to see what the next four years hold …
I love the picture of the puppy. It’s good to get animals from the pound. Far too many people don’t take care of their animals, it’s such a problem down here around us too. It’s why we’re taking the puppy. I don’t really need another mouth to feed but I don’t want to them all end up at the pound or worse.
That’s great your cat carries toys around. Growing up we had a cat that used to chase the dog around the house and pant. Truly hilarious to watch. 🙂
Did the doctor mention investigating whether your dad had Bell’s Pasly? I’m an audiologist, so I saw that a lot when I was practicing and your dad’s case sounded a lot like that…MRI would be negative on that too…
Yep…lots of hopelessness here too…They say he’s going to move back to center, but I’m not buying it. I hope he surprises me, but I doubt it…especially with no checks and balances like you said…scary!
Oh, and that is one cute doggie!!!
sorry bout your Dad, Mine had a quad by pass a couple of years back.. No fun at all, and Mom had a heart a tack about 5 weeks ago, every holiday I look around and wonder if it will be the last time we are together in this life, for holidays,,,,Makes me so thankful that I have had them for so long in my life. Next to Rach they are my Best friends… the pics were great as always, and the pet story’s good. Anya sounds a bit like Itty Bit except he won’t put his head or face under, and washing his hair is a bit challenging.
Hear you on the politics. scary to think there are few if at all checks and balances in D.C. and I think the gubitorial race in Washington will be another mockery this time. But I don’t even want to get started on that rant..
Ay yi yi yi! You did it!
I must admit that I doubted hardly anyone would respond to the tag – because it seems we’re all so busy! But I am so glad you did 🙂
I adore the sweet doggie face! How much is she and when can we bring her home? (Yes, we already have TWO black labs that think they live with us… they’re actually next door family dogs, but we enjoy them vicariously). All’s fine and dandy with horses until your bareback english mount decides to RACE the puppy. UGH
I love those kinds of personable cats. Looks like Anya does too!
The health stuff is always worrisome. So glad for good news for your dad!
Oy… the election. I don’t remember the last time I was so dejected and fearful at the same time. “Change” is coming, “Change” is here. We need to make sure it is the right kind of change. People at work are gung-ho to go get their personal firearms before it is too late. It feels a bit surreal to be living in such a climate.
I guess the silver lining is that possibly more people are paying attention to what leadership is doing? Or do you think just that many more people got snowed?
Sorry this became a rant… I really truly am glad you answered the tag! 🙂
A dog! Hooray!
And so glad that the tests showed nothing serious for your Dad.
