Wednesday I took the day off of work to get the house all decorated for the holidays. I had the kiddos help me put the ornaments on our little tree when they got home from daycare. It has our ornaments we picked up through our travels and the ones the kids have gotten or given us. Clearly the funnest tree to decorate.
Later I took their pictures for our Christmas card. These are some outtakes. 🙂 I’ll show you the card once I get them sent out. I ordered them today, so hopefully in a week or so. I made their white jammies for the card. I wanted to show purity…in the midst of mischief. 😉
Thanksgiving we went to Brian’s aunt and uncle’s house as usual. Brian got a call while we were there from a friend of ours. His family was in a head on collision with another driver Wednesday night after the other car went into their lane. That driver died. Our friends had some injuries, though. The wife, one of my friends, broke her femur, some bones in her hand and sprained her ankle. Their 6 year old daughter broke her collarbone. The other two kids (5 and 8 ) and the husband just had bruises. Thankfully they survived, though.
After spending time with Brian’s family we went over to my family’s house. I wanted to check on my Dad and see how he is doing. It is definitely Bell’s Palsy and he has only been back to work a few days since it happened on Nov. 1. It is very slowly getting better. He can at least close his eye now, but he can’t blink it. His face is still pretty droopy, too, but he can eat and drink better than when it first happened. Right now Grandpa looks like a pirate with his eye patch.
We stayed overnight and took an easy morning getting going. We only stopped at one store on the way home and didn’t buy anything. I’m not sure why people get so insane over Black Friday shopping. According to the news some got a little too excited about shopping. Way to keep the Christmas spirit alive. I prefer to get my shopping done online. No one will kill me that way.
The rest of the long weekend is going very relaxing. We aren’t doing anything more than we have to do. I want to make some food for our friends when they get back home, and maybe some gifts, too. I need to finish Anya’s dress, as well. Starting next week the holiday rush begins! Kai’s birthday is Tuesday, poker is at our house on Wednesday, Saturday we will have his party, Saturday night we have a holiday party with some friends and Sunday we will go to my extended family’s party. It is going to be a busy week! I can’t wait for the week of Christmas, since we both are taking those two weeks off and keeping the kids home with us. I’m sure the kids will be incredibly bored by the end!

Theme Thursday for this week is going to be TOGETHERNESS. This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Togetherness with our kids and our families. It is so important, especially knowing that life is so fragile.
the pic’s are gr8 as usual. Sorry to hear about your friends, just reinforces the need to not take anything for granted.
I broke down and confessed to Rach about the camera (I knew I would) she has decided on the canon ESI I think it is, they have it at costco on sale. and we will hopefully make it there this afternoon to pick it up..Want her to be able to practice with it before Christmas:o) Good to hear you had a good thanksgiving and it looks like you are headed for a gr8 Christmas…
Happy Holidays
Can’t wait to see your Christmas card. These outtakes are hilarious!
I love the first “outtake!” I would have used it for the card! 🙂
Sounds like a great long weekend, too! 🙂
Love the outtakes — I can’t wait to see the real thing!
I hope that your friends have a speedy recovery…how scary!
Look at that little Band-aid! It looks like it has a holiday theme–like a toy soldier from the Nutcracker on it or something!
Sorry to hear about your friends. Whoa, that news is tough any time of year.
My husband’s birthday is on Tuesday, too.
And I think all my Christmas shopping is almost done…with the help of two local outdoor markets and Etsy!
The kids look so cute together and look like they are having so much fun. I too, cant wait to see what the card looks like. Man, you guys had quite a weekend and a busy week ahead. Great theme for this week.
Glad your dad is getting better…hope he recovers fully soon! Those pics of the kiddos are hysterical…I can hear the laughter from here!!
Can’t wait to see the final result of the cards!!!
I’m sorry for the bad news mixed in with the joy of the holidays. We’ve had some of that here, too, with Vasily’s Grandma’s death the day before Thanksgiving.
Love the outtakes. So glad you friends were ok, it sad about the other driver. I like the theme for Thursday, I already have something in mind, the challenge will be capturing it.
Your sister horse reminds of the horses a friend of mine use to breed and raise called Morgan’s.
Sounds like an eventful holiday that’s for sure. Your outtakes are too cute. Those two, you can dress them in white but you know they’re both little imps when they want to be. 🙂
Any chance you’d like to come to NC to take our picture? I love the white jammies and the silliness – ah, siblings!
Holidays can really reinforce the feeling of being so small in the world – how fragile we all really are. Holiday hugs to you and your family.
Oh, I can’t wait to see the final product. I love the white pjs.
They look like they had fun with the Christmas card shoot!!!
