Today Kailan turned 3 years old. That little precious morsel of life that we took home on that cold December day is now our independent little man. When we took him home he was just this long, skinny little person that we were apparently supposed to know how to take of. Who knew?? Luckily he survived through our early days of parenthood and ineptitude.
This year has brought about vast changes in his little life. He has perfected his tantrum techniques and his whining for everything and anything. When he laughs, it continues to be as sweet as a warm summer rain. He learned to say “Please” and “Thank you”. He has slowly learned to be halfway coherent.
On occassion he thrills us with his singing ability. His imagination has blossomed as he plays with his toys and talks in his own little language. Since although he can kinda speak English, apparently when he is playing his imaginary people only speak in toddler-speak.
For his birthday, Mommy took him to the Mall of America, and he got his very own personalized stuffed monkey at the Build-a-Bear store. It was pretty fun…and oh, so many choices. Then it was time to experience some of the rides at The Park. At first he just wanted to sit in those little rides that you have to carry a bag full of quarters to run. Unfortunately mommy was traveling light that day, so after sitting in a bus and an airplace, he wanted to experience an actual moving ride. He actually went on the semi-truck ride all on his lonesome, and mommy was very impressed. The carousel is always a hit of course, and he chose the giraffe over the dragon, so that is something we may have to work on for the future. Fun stuff.
Then, we saw the largest Christmas tree ever known to mankind…it may be fake, but you never know! It was about 3 stories high…they do things oversized in the big ‘ole mall.
That was yesterday. Today we had friends and family come to celebrate and fill our home with toys. Kailan almost exploded with excitement as various family members feverishly worked to take the toys out of their respective packages. As any parent knows, you pretty much need a saw AND a jackhammer for that to occur.
A fun time was had by all, and mostly definitely by Kailan.
Happy Birthday our big little boy!
