This morning I took Kailan in for his 3 year appointment with his doctor.  The only concern I really had was with his lack of eating, his speech development, his lack of sleep, etc, etc, etc.    The doctor said he was ahead of the curve on certain things like identifying colors, following commands and some physical activity.  He did say that his speech was immature but not overly so for a 3 year-old.  In 4-6 months we should get him examined for his speech.  Thank goodness we live in a “good” suburb that taxes the crap out of us so they can offer “free” programs, like speech testing and therapy.  They tried to test his hearing and eyesight, but he wasn’t quite following the commands so that didn’t work.  I knew that would be a little tough to do, since he’s not so good with following orders.  Man, do we know about that!

He had to get 2 shots, and I made the monumental mistake of trying to prepare him by telling him it would hurt.  Yeah…big mistake.  After that little mishap, he threw quite the fit and the nurse and I had to hold him down.  She said, “Wow, he’s pretty strong!”  Uh-huh, like she needed to tell me that…we have to do the same thing just about every night trying to get him to put his jammies on!  It’s tons of fun.

After the two quick shots, we were serenaded with a chorus of “Owie, owie, OWIEEEEEE, owie, OWie…(whimper, whimper), OOOOWWWWIIIIIEEEE!”.   He wasn’t a fan of the shots and you would have seriously thought we cut off his leg.  He cried, whimpered and said “owie” about a thousand times.  He’s not exactly good with pain…you might say he wants you to feel very, very sorry for him.  You see, no other child has EVER experienced that much pain.  EVER, EVER.

Of course, Anya got 4 shots in November and cried for a minute and then was A-okay.  Woman are the stronger sex, so I guess that pretty much explains their reactions, right??

I can’t wait for next year. 🙄
