Anya: look there’s a bird. Birds fly.
Kailan: Mommy you need to give them back to us. Where did you put them?
Me: ????
Kailan: We need them! We used to have them but you took them away. Where did they go?
Me: ????
Suddenly it dawns on me. This picture. Little ones think everything they see with their eyes is real and tangible. They saw the picture with the wings on them and it was, of course, reality. Regardless of whether they remembered ever flying and seeing fairies.
Yes, gave them wings…and took them away, apparently. Hopefully they never truly believe that.
I explained to Kai that it was make believe, but it was fun to imagine. In their imaginations they can fly. 🙂
Mr. Kai, you are too sweet.
Too cute! I have a framed “photograph” by an awesome mixed media artist that hung in Colby’s room as a baby and is now hanging in Chloe’s room. The main part of the picture is a baby crawling across the nursery floor. The view is from behind the baby, and Colby is convinced that the baby in the picture is him. At 2 years old, i don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise. When he is older and leaves the nest you can tell Kailan that you are giving him back his wings. 🙂
Oh well said Olivia!
Once when the BA was dressed as a fairy with wings, my friend turned to her two year old son and said
“Look at the BA…do you know what she is dressed as?”
“Yes,” announced the boy, matter of factly, “an aeroplane.”
AAAaaaHHhh!!!!! Stacy, you are forgetting your Peter Pan dialogue, Remember….
All you need is your Happy thoughts!
Although there is a lot of truth in what Olivia said… LOL
Ahhh, what great imagination to envision flying!
(And I would have been totally confused in that conversation until you remembered the picture!)
Your photo editing skilz are a-ston-ish-ing! 🙂
Oh, do I wish they could stay so naive forever! So sweet.
ohh that is just too precious!!
Love it! These little ones are so much fun. 🙂
