A few weeks ago we noticed Kailan was having quite the time going to bed at night.  He didn’t want to go to sleep, and when we finally did get him to sleep, he would usually end up crawling into our bed at some point during the night.

Some nights we would just let him start out the night in our bed.  When it was time for our tuckered-out selves to go to bed, we would just move his prone, sleeping body to his little bed.  Apparently at some point during the night he would realize he was no longer in the wondrous soft bed, and usually at around 3 am he would crawl back in with us.  We would then spend the rest of the night with a restless little boy…kicking us in various soft parts of our bodies with an occasional arm whacking us in the face.  Let’s just say that gets old REAL quick!

The next phase was just letting him sleep on the queen-sized guest bed.  It is a very comfy pillow-top mattress, so he was quite content with it and the vast amount of space he had all to his little self.  It took us a few weeks to figure out that it might be a good idea to do that…but, give us a break, we were sleep deprived from getting a fist in the nose in the middle of the night.

He slept ALL NIGHT LONG.  Success!

Upon making this wondrous discovery, we decided it was time for a BIG boy bed.  *sniff*  Our baby is growing up!

We told Kai that we were going to get a big boy bed and he was rather enthusiastic in his agreement.  Apparently there have been tigers in his bed, and as everyone knows, toddler/crib beds are rather small, so there is just no room for a 3 year-old AND tigers.  Had we only known…

So, this is Kailan’s new sleeping accomodations.  I found the quilt on sale at the Target boutique ($20!!!) with new navy jersey sheets.  Now he can sleep in the soft yumminess on his very own pillow-top mattress.  Yes, there are shams on his bed, but he is a little boy so he is allowed the luxury of tasteful bedding.  I’m sure when puberty hits he will be tossing them in the trash as MY GOD boys aren’t supposed to have SHAMS!

Kai's new bed

Does this not look like utter joy and happiness?  We experienced giggles galore when he saw his bed and he immediately pounced on it!

Big Bed!!

Spoiled?  Yes.  Is he worth it?? YES!
