Note to self: Next time we take a new trail…a map would be a good idea…or some sort of GPS device…yeah, that would be a GREAT idea…
A month or so ago at my neighborhood bunco a few of the ladies were talking about a nice trail just a mile or so from our homes. It was supposed to be pretty and picturesque. I told Brian about it and we talked about taking the kids on a walk there. We finally decided to do it on Sunday.
It was a very pretty and rustic walk. You felt like you were truly out in the woods as we walked along the verdant green paths, walked across wooden bridges, and listened to the rushing water from the engorged creek. We had a lot of heavy rain in the past few days, so we could see the runoff in the swirls of sand along our path.
Then we got tired and realized that the lovely path was not going back to where we came in. We came across a stairway up out of the creek valley, and just took it as a means to find civilization.
We had no idea where we were. We just followed the direction the sun was setting and after walking and walking we realized we were closer to HOME than my car. I’m sure you can imagine that our children were voicing their discontent with having to walk such a long ways…after all by the time we got home it ended up being a 2 hour walk. We were all a bit pooped out there at the end.
Next time a map would be a good idea… 😉
Well, at least you got some beautiful photos from your adventure! 🙂
Sounds like fun! I’d say if you actually survived with your sanity, the kids did pretty good!
Hi my friend! Goodness gracious.. I am so behind with all my blog buddies and their postings.. yikes!
But what a fantastic trail tho.. sorry that you got a bit lost..ugh! That is SO hard without kids, let alone with… Maps are good, but I would have done the same thing.. “nah, we will figure it out!” lol!
Hope next time it’s much much better! Love love your shots, girl! My goodness… you are such an inspiration to me, you know it? Love the pic of your little boy.. his face and expression is precious! 🙂
Hugs.. A
I can’t believe your kids made it that far. Sounds like an adventure to me!!
I did this once with my kids and they were NOT happy with me either.
Well, it is pretty – that makes it worth it. Right???
Oooops! Did they sleep good that night at least??
You live in the most gorgeous place. My kids would have pooped out at hour 1. I’d be interested in knowing if you get them to go on the same walk again.
Yeah !! Map !! GPS !! Maybe you should have tracking devices implanted ? 🙂 Great trails you’ve got for walking ! We did a big hike today too … It’s a great way to have good quality family time !!
