I am fairly certain that all mother’s of boys will share this gripe. There is a serious lacking of cute boy clothes!
I think that the first year, there is still a fairly good selection of cute clothes, but after that the selection is sparse. At that point they make clothes for boys that look like their dad’s clothes. Like you want to dress your cute little boy in adult clothes!
There are, of course, the character clothes. I am not a big fan of them and would rather have clothes whereby my child is not free advertising for Disney, Pixar or Sesame Street. I want clothes that have some of his beloved animals shown in a tasteful and fun way. Is that so much to ask??
There is a custom child clothing website called Journale Modiste, that I like to look at for ideas. There are a ton TON!! of custom girls’ clothing designers but only a handful for boys’ clothes. What gives??
I will tell you what! It requires a lot more imagination to design something cute for boys because of the lack of inspiration out in the market. There is a lack of fabric geared towards boys, too.
I found a couple of cute custom outfits for boys (some make me want to hurl with all the “decoupage” on them…looks like wallpaper on clothes to me!), so take a look at them if you are interested.
Trip to the Zoo But EEK…a white shirt???
Ride ’em Cowboy But EEK…a white shirt??? Okay, these women apparently don’t actually have any boys of their own!
Neverland What is with all these white shirts??
Oh, and a note to all clothing designers….Overalls may LOOK cute on boys, but functional they are NOT! I can just see those straps floating in the potty and then being dragged across the floor in a wet streak as a half naked boy comes up to me to help him put them back on. Yuck!
And lay off the white shirts!
Last year I was SO thrilled when I went into the local K-Mart and found boys t-shirts in primary colors with animals on them. I bought Nicky one with a lion, a tiger, an elephant, a rhino, and one with a big pig. They were cheap and he loved them and wore them all summer long.
Boys clothes are hard, I agree. My boys, however, are into camo and hunting and John Deere, so we have alot of that stuff. With blue jeans or khakis they make decent outfits.
Oh, that sounds nice Alissa. I wish Kai was into camo more, but he requires a creature to wear anything!
