On Saturday we went to the Renaissance Faire. We met some friends there with their two kids and had a rather nice time. The kids got to ride an elephant and go on a few more rides. I love our Ren Faire – it is in a great wooded area and lots of people dress up for it.
At about 11:45 am I decided that I needed to figure something out for Kailan to wear. We were meeting our friends at 2 pm. I made him the shirt in about 1.5 hours. I had to figure out a pattern from scratch…so extra pressure! It turned out a little wide, but that’s okay. I have a vest to put over it that I made a few years back that he can wear for Halloween. It is lined in fleece so it should be nice and warm for him. You’ll have to wait for Halloween for that one. His pants are from last year, as is the belt. He looked pretty cute in it. It was simple outfit, but it was a warmish day, so anything more and he would have been too hot.
Then here is Anya’s dress to go along with her fairy wing jacket. She looks very cute all put together, does she not?
The fabrics have been in my stash for a good year or two and the ribbon is vintage from my Grandma. I’m guessing circa the 70’s. It actually has a lacey blue ribbon underneath the blue/green/white ribbon.
Anya was quite happy with it, so that makes mommy happy. She actually liked something that wasn’t pink. We are making progress here people!
From now on you will be called Wonder Woman. Geesh. I really do though want to see another pic of Anya’s jacket. I want to see the details. Are the wings sewn on?
Anya’s outfit is adorable. It is so nice when they finally realize that clothes that aren’t pink can be cute too. You can tell she loves the outfit. The ribbon really adds a nice touch. I always have problems using vintage stuff. I have issues finding the perfect use for them.
That shot of K is stunning….he is so handsome!
I know lots of little girls that would delight in the outfit that A is wearing! It’s so cute and she is such a pretty fairy!
We have yet to go to a ren faire….maybe someday! 🙂
You are so good. Just the other day I got this idea in my head to make superhero capes for my nephews (I partially blame fabulous designers like you!). I figured it would be an easy enough task for a non clothes maker who’s last sewing project yielded a crooked skirt 12 years ago. You can see where I’m going with this right? You have ruffle and ribbon and multiple pieces of fabric. I’m about ready to glue the thing together, iron on a cool symbol and add some velcro. Sigh. You are so good.
I always love your Ren Fest posts. The kids look so festive and I bet they look forward to it every year. An elephant ride!? I didnt know they had elephants there. That would be awesome. Glad you had nice weather over the weekend to go. Its a little brisk now, but I am quite enjoying it.
I love her flip flops! Your kids look adorable. I wish we had a Ren Faire. It looks awesome!
Kailan looks soooooooo cute in that. We have never been to the Ren Faire but talk about going every year.
I can’t even find time to post a blog full of excuses for CT, and you whip this out in less than 2 hours?
And the fairy jacket is DIVINE! Can we see more, how did you do it? Are the wings attached?? So very cool. And the vintage ribbon on the dress, it just ties it all together perfectly. Sigh. I want one!
I bow before you in awe! Coming up with a pattern from scratch in 1.5 hours????? It doesn’t look too wide in that photo.
As for Anya’s outfit, the colours together are mouthwatering. I LOVE the jacket. Have you told us about it before and I missed the post? I’m off to look. I LOVE the pattern with the frill on the cropped jacket…looks like she’s loving it too.:-)
dang but you’re good! Anya’s entire ensemble it awesomeness, and Kai’s shirt in 1.5 hours? I bow to you. This makes me long for the ren. faire too!
You are amazing, as usual….just whipped it up in an hour and a half? crazy!
Absolutely adorable! I so miss going to the Ren Faire. 🙂
