I know what you are thinking…WHY? ‘Cause that is what I was thinking initially.
Let me start out by saying I don’t really want to learn how to really knit with the needles and counting stitches and all that. Maybe someday when I’m much much older and just want to sit on the couch watching soaps with my cat and cup of tea. Not now. I’d rather sit at my sewing machine with my cat getting hair all over my fabric with my glass of wine. Just so’s we’re clear.
I saw on a photography forum that ladies were making those cute little newborn hats with the knifty knitter, so I had to learn how to do that. I’m all for making photo props for my kids and the adorable cuteness that is a newborn baby. Besides…winter’s a comin’!
So…off to Michael’s I went.
Let’s just say a big “HALLELUYAH” to our friends on You Tube, shall we? You can find video tutorials for almost anything. I watched a few and I was all set to go since I am more of a visual learner.
Here is my accomplishment. I’m so very proud. Unfortunately the little newborn babe I made these for was not so impressed. Everytime we put one on him he started crying. *sigh* All that hard work…
Here it is on the little babe. I had to be really quick to grab something before the screaming started. If you look really hard, you can see he is attempting to give me the finger for putting those darn hats on him. 😉
I bought some yarn for a hat for Anya, so now I have something to do while I watch all the new shows for CSI, Criminal Minds and Stargate Universe. Let it never be said that you can’t be a couch potato and productive at the same time. 🙂
All I can say is THANKS A LOT!!!! Now I feel like I need to go get one of those things. Those hats are so darn cute! My mom tried to teach me to knit several years ago and I remember being very frustrated and not patient enough. So I haven’t tried again since then. Like I need something else to do anyway. You are so right about You Tube. I am a visual learner too and it has saved me on more than one occasion.
Oh yeah, I totally see the finger comin’ 😉
The hat is so cute!! What is that knitting plastic thing? I have never seen that before….great, more things to buy!
🙂
of course you are knitting up adorable creations! there is NOTHING you cannot do, girl!
i adore the hats, even if the little one didn’t!
Stacy those are great, I love the shot of the little guy giving with the scowl look on his face.
I am loving Stargate Universe too, I would die without my TiVo.
You would also be proud of me, I made a “very simple/basic” skirt for a Halloween costume. I thought it came out great!
I didn’t get to wear it but the girl who took my place for the parade asked where I bought it. (I made a Veruca Salt…Willy Wonka character outfit for the Halloween parade at the Children’s Hospital I work at.)
I hoping to do some more sewing soon since the skirt turned out good.
Those are tooo cute!! I can knit a bit, but I am so slow that I often give up before I complete a project. You are so very talented!
so so cute !!! and yeah … i totally see it in the baby picture … not just the finger, but the look on his face !!!
Haha! But you are WRONG about the needles and counting stitches thing! It is the most satisfying thing AND…unlike sewing, if you make a mistake it is really easy to pull everything out and start again! 😀 I’ve never seen a nifty knitter. I think the hats turned out pretty cute though. Silly, style-less baby!!!!! 😀
That little brown hat is the cutest thing ever, and I love the shot of him with it on. Why do babies always look like wise old men?
Could you be anymore creative?!!! 🙂
LOVE the hats! Do you sell on Etsy?
