Have you gotten any gas lately? Was there a man there with a mask and gun demanding your money? Sure feels like it doesn’t it?
WHAT. THE. HECK.
I admit, I’m a gas snob. I put premium in my tank since that is what the manual said to do. I also only drive about 5 miles to work every day so I don’t use much gas. I was happy to see that our Costco gas station was one of the better priced gas stations in the metro here. So, you know, I don’t feel quite so consumeristic by paying the extra.
Maybe a little though…at $3.42 a gallon how could you not?
Oh, I know. It’s insane. My gas expenditures have gone from around $35 a week a couple of years ago to nearly $70 a week. And that’s just me–DH drives the cruiser to work and back so we’re saving a ton there. Between driving to the sitter, to work, and into town for errands (even if I do try to make only one trip) I use nearly a tank of gas every 7-10 days. *sigh*
Sheesh. I know it. Absolute craziness, especially when the oil companies have been reporting thier biggest profits ever! My husband’s commute is 35 miles each way – talk about expensive! We’re paying almost as much in gas as for rent! Public transportation is a major hassle, but we’re looking into it.
FWIW…I’ve read in a few different places that premium gas really doesn’t make a difference except to the pocket book, unless you’re driving under very strenuous circumstances.
I’ve also read that places like Costco and Sams are good when then prices are falling, because they’re buying a bit ahead of the market due to high turnover. But when prices are rising they’re more expensive, due to the same high turnover rate.
The same masked man must be at your gas pump and mine. We’re heading out of town this weekend to visit my parents and we’ve actually had to take some of our “spending” money and use it for gas.
Christina, I have heard both ways about the premium gasoline, so I don’t know what to believe! I can’t say I’m gentle on my car….so, I just like to think that this will help LOL! Our Costco is usually the cheapest in our suburb. The other gas stations are so expensive, so Costco usually is cheaper all the time.
Well, lets just hope the craziness settles down. It is getting a little out of hand here.
Robbed indeed. I live 25 miles from the nearest town, my husband drives an hour one way to work five days per week. Sometimes I think we should just stay home and farm…it might be more cost effective.
