Last week we had Kailan’s second trimester school conference with his teacher. Before we met with her, she had sent home his progress report. This is only Kindergarten, so there is no grades, but the highest you can get is Proficient. He got all P’s.
Our school also does a test to see the Math and Reading levels of the Kindergartners. It is a trial right now, and I can see how it can be very subjective depending on the child’s preparation before coming to school. Kai did very well, ranking in the 90+ percentile. He also was well prepared. He’s a little Ace on the computer, plus he was reading small books before he even entered Kindergarten. I should hope he would score well.
His teacher said he was such a good kid, too. She said even though he was ahead of some of the kids in the class he didn’t lose his patience or make fun of them for not knowing things. He was very empathetic to others. She also said he was a gifted little artist, since he was so detail oriented in all his drawings…she said she credited me for that. Wonder why?? 😉
We left very happy and proud of our little guy. 🙂
Oh yes, and one of his bottom teeth has popped through. One down…three to go! He also got the “tooth bag” from Kindergarten to take home last week. It’s a bag that has a few books on dentists and a traveling book on how the kids lost their teeth. Most of the stories were not as…eventful…as Kai’s. He dictated as Brian wrote down the horrific tale. I’m sure it will be an interesting read for the teacher. 😉
WTG, proficient cookie!
Woo hoo, Kai! That is a pretty darn “proficient” report there! And yes, I’m sure the credit on his artistic-ness should go to you, Stacy!
great job, Kai! You must be so proud of him.
Yay, Kai!
Oh, you must be so proud. Sweet photo of Kai reading to Anya.
Props of Kai, and Mommy and Daddy! It feels good to get that validation – even if you did already know that he’s awesome all the way around!
