Last night we had a quick dinner and then went to watch daddy play 4’s sand volleyball.  Daddy really likes volleyball and played it in college a loooooonnnnnnggggg time ago.  He’s a little out of practice, but has started playing again.

At the park where the volleyball courts are, there is also much fun play equipment.  And the super-interesting portable potties.

Of course, Kailan had to go potty.  I took the kids and we went into the family-sized one, and as we went in there I said, “Don’t touch ANYTHING! Anya, just stand there…don’t sit down.  Kai momma will put you on the potty…don’t touch the seat.  I said DON’T TOUCH!”

I really don’t think there is anything more disgusting that portable potties.  They are sitting there, full of human waste, in the hot sun.  Full of all sorts of germies.  Ick, ick, ick.  Not where I want my kids to put their pristine little bottoms.  I just want to throw them into some sort of decontamination chamber when they exit them.  I know a bit of exposure to germs is good for them, but they get that on a daily basis at daycare.  Like they need more than that!

Need I tell you that he didn’t actually go to the potty??  It was all a ruse to satisfy his curiousity.  He now knows where all the germs come from…curiousity satisfied.

On another note, I think daddy actually won last night.  Whoohooo!

Daddy playing volleyball

After a hard night of playing on the playground equipment and watching daddy play, we had to leave to go home for bedtime.  The next obstacle was trying to get the kids in the car without making a complete spectacle of ourselves.  I try to keep the wailing and crying to a minimum, so as not to bother the competitors.  At least I can reason with Kailan, and play the mean mommy.  “If you throw a tantrum, Kailan, I am not EVER bringing you back to watch Daddy again.  E-V-E-R.”  That semi-works long enough to get him in the car and out of earshot.  I’m used to hearing him scream and get all red in the face, so it really doesn’t bother me anymore.  Yes, I’m a jaded mommy.

He looks so angelic and innocent doesn’t he??  You would never know of the wrath he can unfurl when he doesn’t want to do something.  I think I have hearing loss from it. 😉
