This was probably the easiest room in the house to decorate.  It is the smallest bedroom, and is set up to be a nursery.  It even has a nice big built-in changing table.  We painted it this nice soft yellow color when it was Kai’s room and kept it that way when it came Anya’s turn to have the room.

The room turned out so lovely and wasn’t too spendy.

  •
    • The art on the wall is from a fairy calendar by a great artist for that genre, whom I can’t remember her name.  I pulled out all the fairies along the color scheme that I wanted and put them in matted frames that I bought at Michaels.
    • I made the flower arrangements in fall tones.
    • I made the curtains.  If you have any skills with sewing at all, you can make curtains.  They have to be the easiest things to make…just straight stitching.
    • I made the quilt and crib skirt.  The crib skirt I made too long, since now that her mattress is at the bottom it drags on the floor.  A learning experience!  I had never made one before…and don’t expect to do it again.
    • I recovered the chair.  That was a chair that I grew up with and has seen much better days, but some new upholstery fabric perked it right up!  I had Brian make the little ottoman (kinda hidden next to the chair) that stores books and stuff, and I covered that.  The things that HGTV can teach you.
    • The other items (wall tassels, decorative boxes, egg-shaped jewelry box, etc.) I mostly picked up at TJ Maxx.   A great resource for cheaper, unique items.
