I’ve really got nothing else to show this week, due to supreme lack of motivation in the sewing department. Instead last week I got my laundry done in a timely manner and went to bed most nights before 11pm. It was nice to just take a breather.
Today I thought I would show some of my recent fabric designs. It’s all I’ve got.
Every few months I start drawing more and get the bug to design fabric. This is basically what all the designs start out as…half a drawing that I scan, clean up in CS3, and duplicate into a brush.
Here are some of my recent designs:
I got a few printed up as samples and they look good. I did get a yard each of the designs I mentioned in this post. The organic cotton knit is a bit thicker than I thought it would be, so I have yet to figure out what I want to make with them. I’ve got a few ideas, but the fabric is spendy so I am going to take my time on it.
We have a pretty full schedule again this week. Last week I took Thursday and Friday off of work to get some house/landscaping stuff done. The yard is looking pretty good, so I will try to get some pictures up. The college boys started painting yesterday. This weekend we are having a BBQ for our friends from Cincinnatti that are visiting. That means the house needs to get in order and I will be doing some cooking this weekend.
Not sure if the sewing machine will be in use at all this week. I did hem three pairs of pants I cut off into shorts last week for Kailan. The knees were blown out on them, so the get a new life. That’s not really photo worthy, though. I also have some knitting done, too. I need to get pictures of them, though. At least I am early on hats for next winter. 🙂
Teachers gifts are on the agenda. I’m working on clipboards and maybe some fabric luggage tags. I have a few weeks yet until school ends, but I hope to have the projects done before the absolute last minute. That would be great!
Hope everyone else had some productivity on the crafty front. I’ll have to check back later. Today is our office charity event of the year. We are doing some demolition work at a Habitat for Humanity house. Bring on the sledgehammers! The last few years have been painting, so I’m really happy that there is no painting…for obvious reasons. 😉
I especially like the pink and orange design with the polka dots. I would probably never cut into the fabric. I am horrible like that. I am always afraid I will mess it up. It is hard to find time to sew when there is so much to do in the yard.
Have LOTS of fun with the demolition work. Somehow it is very carthetic to destroy things. 😉 Your designs look great. I like the first 2 the best, the color looks very vibrant. I hope it transferred well.
the pink and orange – love that one!!! hope you had fun with the sledgehammers today. 😉
LOVE those…i can’t wait to see what you concoct using your new fabric. i want to try to design some sometime…add it to the list!
The last set of pink designs would make some excellent show shirts 😉 Love all the designs!
