My kids looooove this fruit dip. It isn’t the syrupy fruit dip of the store brands. Oh no! This is a light whipped confection that you would rather just eat with a spoon rather than dip strawberries in it. Alas, the conventions of polite society require you to have at least some fruit with the fruit dip.
I may have inadvertantly taken excessive amounts on the spoon and put it in my mouth, though. Maybe. Probably. You caught me.
I made this for Anya’s birthday, as it is one of her favorites. Her birthday dinner was comprised of the fruit dip, strawberries and Kraft Mac & Cheese. Gourmand, isn’t she?? 😉
Recipe:
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups whipped cream
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, brown sugar, sugar, maple syrup and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream. I use fresh since I don’t usually have Cool Whip on hand, but I do have whipping cream in the fridge. It was so easy to make it fresh. Just put a cup of cream in a bowl and I used my hand mixer to whip it up in just a few minutes. Serve immediately or chill for later.
Forgive the sad looking strawberries. I’m betting the cold snap we’ve had here got to them, as all of the strawberries in the store looked rather rough.
That stuff is that the best!
Looks yummy!!!! and what a birthday dinner….
A veritable feast of delectable delight…..
Well maybe not, but I am sure Anya liked it…. :o)
Oh that does sound yummy. I bet you could use greek yogurt instead of the sour cream too. I can see why your kids love it so much.
Stacy, I think I’m going to both love you and hate you for this one!
For my nephew’s birthday a couple of months ago my sister reported his choice for dinner was fruit salad and bacon. I think they’d like each other! 🙂
I would never have thought of this combination as a fruit dip. Who knows….I may be inspired to try it?!!!!
Sounds divine. 🙂
