We need to get our house painted this year, as it is chipping off. Not on the plan, but what can you do?? The College Pro Painter dude came by earlier this spring and gave us the sales pitch, and we bought it. They washed the house on Saturday, avoiding the rotting windowsills (windows on the agenda for NEXT year) and I just had to pick the colors.
On a side note…those boys were supposed to show up in the “morning” to start power washing the house. Yeah…it was probably around 11 am when they showed up. We gave up on them at 10 am and went to the nursery, figuring they were probably out partying the night before and “morning” to them is just before noon.
We will be going from this:
To these colors (red is the trim, dark tan is the main color):
Painting starts next Monday. Hope it looks right, because these kinds of tough decisions will last about 7 years. Then we get to do it again. The cedar siding on the sides and back of the house need to get painted a bit more often than we would like. I think a more permanent siding sounds like a pretty good thing for the long run.
Oh, and our pond isn’t quite full yet…but it is getting close. I’ve been taking out probably 20 gallons of water each night to water the various plants and shrubs we have planted. The kids are being good helpers, of course, and watering with their little watering cans. 🙂
A bunny had made a nest underneath my thyme plant. I found the remains of it on Monday, so it must have been there during the weekend while I was weeding all around it. It decided to try to dig another one underneath my precious basil and ruined that. Little bastards. I’ll get you someday!!
I keep hoping that the coyotes will clean out the bunny population in our yard, but there is one rather brave bunny that comes out in fully daylight and just stares at you as you drive in the driveway. I let the kids chase it every chance they get. I’m hoping it gets annoyed and moves.
Ooohh, I like those colors! I feel your pain about the bunny situation. Luckily I don’t have any precious plantings for them to destroy this year. They like to have their babies under our shed and then our dog tries to dig them out. So annoying.
We have bunnies galore in our yard too. Ours are brave too. They just sit there and stare at you. They will let us get about 5 feet from them before they dart off. Luckily they have not eaten any vegetables or herbs yet!! Make sure to post photos of the house after it is all painted. I bet it will look great.
I like those colors, very New Mexico. 😉 Yeah I know about windows. We can afford to get them all done at once so have opted to do a few at a time. We took the plunge and are expecting 4 new ones in June sometime. Of course, this means painting the house too however, we’ll be doing that ourselves. 😉 We know about rotting sills too. The husband has been pulling them off and caulking and primering. Oh the money pit. LOL
Hehe..we fell for College Pro this year too. They are coming mid-June. Love the colors you chose! We are sticking with out Zeus color and white trim.
We have bunnies around here too and I used to think they were cute until they ate every single leaf they could reach off my tomato plants last year. GRRRRR. . .
I love that new paint color and the trim is such a great shade too. Your house will look like those they repaint on television!
no Bunny problems here but the Moles are killing me….LOL
stood over a hole for awhile last night :o( no luck…
Bunnies are much easier targets…LOL
nice colors..
