I took this shot over the weekend at my parents abode. We tried to get all 4 little urchins to at least look my direction at the same time, but no dice. I took over 30 shots and not one had the kids all looking at me at the same time…mostly it was MY kids not looking. They are so over me and my camera. 😉 The other two kids here are almost family. I grew up with their parents in our neighborhood, so I’ve known them since forever.
My parents have a lovely 4th of July party every year and the neighbors shoot off some pretty impressive fireworks. This year it was early as the holiday falls mid-week, so it was on Saturday. The kids amused themselves with waterguns almost the whole time. We had some yummy food and good conversation while we tried to avoid getting shot with a stream of water. While the fireworks were exploding overhead, we started a little bonfire. I got out the makings for some smores and the kids loved eating those. Fun stuff!
This is my BSM…see more over at Picture This. 🙂
my. my. my. How adorable. She’s so patriotic. And she is getting so big. Love the pigtails too.
Great shot, but it has a very different feel than most of your pictures. I think it’s almost better this way than if they were all looking at the camera. Love Anya’s dress, you sewing queen!
Thanks ladies! I used a vintage action on this picture, so it has a bit more photoshopping than my regular pictures. I really don’t mind that they aren’t all looking but the grandparents wanted one of them all looking at the camera…you know how it is… 😉
I had the same trouble with 4 kids–mine and my sister’s—never looking hte same direction. This shot ahs a nice look to it!
looking at the camera or not, that’s a cute capture. i love your daughter’s dress too. i can tell that’s a mommy creation.
i have been having trouble w/ ava lately too. she’s so over my camera as well. hee, hee. at least when u take pics of them from behind, you can’t see the faces they are making at you. 😉
I love that they are almost defiantly NOT looking at the camera! I also love Anya’s dress…I’ve admired your sewing creations for awhile now. You should really set up an etsy store and let us buy some!
I love this. It looks like my kids when they get together with their cousins here in town. Like they are in the planning phase . . . 🙂
I think if they had been looking at the camera, the shot wouldn’t be as awesome as it is! Reminded me of a department store ad for patriotic clothing! VERY awesome. I love it
I love the “look” of this photo. It completely tells a story with no need to have everyone looking at the camera.
I love the color, the kind of washed out look. Very nice, especially since they’re not looking!
They are so darned cute in their red, white, and blue. Very patriotic! And now I’m craving s’mores, too. Sigh. Guess I’ll have to make ’em. LOL
Thank you all so very much for the nice comments!
Carrie, maybe someday on the etsy store, but no time soon. I’m having a hard time keeping up with everything!
Allie, they weren’t planning anything, rather they were filling their water pistols in the fountain LOL!
That really was why I was having such a hard time getting them all to look…they just wanted to play. 🙂
Sometimes the best shots are the ones where they aren’t looking. This is adorable–it shows how well they all get on together. And that dress, oh, my. It’s too much cuteness. Really.
