No not written by me, but by the hubby…many moons ago. He used to write poetry before he graduated college and the business world sucked all the creativity out of his brain, or so he says. I asked him if I could post a few and he agreed. 🙂

A cry sounds in the still, wintry air.
The wailing of newborn joy.
Happiness surrounds those
who form a new bond this night.
Souls of those lost are rejoined through His grace
with the innocence and peace
of one born in the sweetness of love.
The Wheel turns and innocence begins to fade,
but the bond holds true.
Happiness is renewed as new journeys are begun
and new loves uncovered in youth’s vitality.
Death enters through the pain of loss.
The bond weakens as the Wheel separates
loved ones from each other.
Chasms open and swallow those who are near.
Man’s greatest of follies tears
at the fabric which holds the bond,
but still it remains
tattered and weakened, but ever present.
The bond tightens as some grow old
and others pass beyond the light.
Death smiles as He claims those
who grow weary of the strain.
But those who pass on are not lost.
They live on in our hearts and minds.
Their spirit surrounds us and
the bond grows strong once more.
Neither time, nor war, nor death
can break that which was forged
through love in Heaven.
For blood is a stronger tie
than all the emotions Man can feel.
It holds us together and makes us one.
Blood is deeper than any ocean
and wider than even the sky.
It shines like the brightest of stars,
blazing forth in the darkness that is infinity.
Our souls will always return home,
no matter how far they may wander.
The bond is the one constant which
stands against all of Time’s trials.
The bond stands for all eternity,
and we are helpless to struggle
against its mighty grasp.

Wow! Beautiful! I’m so very impressed. You have quite the talented and creative family!
That is beautiful. Your sweet children are bound to be creative–it’s in their genes.
Wow, what a beautiful poem! No wonder you and the hubby found each other – you’re both so creative and talented!
The references to “the Wheel” make me think of Robert Jordan’s books…
Christina, I’m pretty sure he got it from there. 🙂
I do hope our children got some of our creativity, too. Hopefully it rubs off on them. 😉
