I firmly believe that they pass genetic material both ways. Case in point…hair.
Have you noticed my little fairy’s beautful, curly blonde locks? The locks that I lovingly caress as she swats my annoying hand away? Well, those didn’t come from me. The little prince has my hair, where it is stick-straight and dark blonde. That was me as a child.
This is my hair now…but please ignore the fact that I really need a fresh dye job. I’m a mom, with not much free time, so give me a break! 😉
I now have a wave in my hair. However, since my hair is two feet long, it doesn’t span the whole length, nor is it my entire head of hair. No, the top layer is still fairly straight, while the bottom is wavy. I must have only received part of that genetic material. I’m waiting to see if it stays or grows out, since it looks like my roots might be straight. And in desperate need of three boxes of Natural Insticts Spiced Tea.
What our bodies go through when we have babies. I won’t even go into what my abdomen looks like…it’s not pretty. And I’m pretty sure I didn’t have any varicose veins before I had babies. That may just be because I AM getting older…but still.
Hey lady…consider yourself tagged!

Love that watercolor photo from yesterday–so gorgeous!
Oh my how how motherhood changes us…both emotionally and physically! My feet frew half a size. And I’m actually one of the few women that’s glad to have lost hair post-baby as it was so rediculously thick before.
Having kids didn’t change my hair, but my feet did grow half a size with each kid. And not that I was great shakes in a bikini before, but I wouldn’t be caught dead in one now!
I LOVE your hair! It’s so long, and it looks like it’s thick and full. Mine is fine and straight and only looks one way, not matter what I do to it…
My feet grew while I was pregnant, too, but then went back to normal afterwards. I was so happy that I didn’t have to get a whole new shoe wardrobe! Emotionally, I have yet to recover from that. I cry so easily these days.
Alissa, thanks for the compliments on my hair. It is very thick and full and healthy. Whenever I go in to get it cut the stylists are always amazed at how healthy it is for being so long. I think the key is no styling products and rarely a blow dryer. I do dye it though! 😉
Your hair is amazingly beautiful and healthy. I’ll bet you have a healthy diet, don’t you?
I formerly had really long, below the waist, board-straight hair. In my old age it has decided natural curls are the thing. If I do not blow dry my hair, it curls madly.
Does a healthy diet include chocolate?? Then…yes!! I do drink lots of water and try to keep my food relatively good. Rarely do we eat fried food.
So your hair got curly as you got older? Well, maybe that is it, too…ah, aging, isn’t it lovely? 😉
