Yes, yet another week has gone by and I have not sewed. Apparently, I’m busy….or something.
I have photoshoots, the kids have soccer and there are other things that just seem to get in the way. Like reading smutty romance novels and tackling the mountain of laundry. Oh excitement…it never ends here!
So, here is what is on my to-do list, and I have most of the fabric for this. I just need to buy some notions:
- Kailan would like to be a skeleton for Halloween, so I need to get some black sweatshirt fleece and some white glow in the dark fabric paint. Then I need to draw some bones.
- Anya would like to be a fairy princess (shocker!). Luckily she snatched a dress up dress that I bought her at Homegoods some years past as the dress she wants to wear. Of course, it covers little, so I will make a dress to go underneath that is fleece and warm so she doesn’t freeze and show her undies. I’ll probably end up making her a long cape to go with it, since I think it will be a cold Halloween this year.
- Black twill pants for Kailan – he wants another dragon – one that shows up better.
- Black “jolly roger”corduroy pants for Kailan
- Baby blanket for a friend’s baby – he’s a premie, so right now he is in the hospital. He won’t be able to use it for a little bit yet, but I want to get it off to them.
- Chair folder pockets for Anya’s classroom. Yes, I volunteered to do them again. I just need to find my measurements from last time and buy the fabric.
- Shirts for me – I have several pieces of fabric that I really want to use. See above. There’s two sweater knits that I want to make some cardigans, or maybe just long sweaters.
- Skirts for me – again, I have the fabric. Lots of it…from years of buying fabric for clothes I’m going to make for myself. I actually need them now, as most of my skirts are loose on me. Good problem to have, though.
- Find more time in the day.
Lately, I have been having a hard time getting down to my sewing room and working. It’s not that I don’t want to do it, rather I just don’t have the energy by the time the day ends. I try to get a work out in at some point in the night and that just doesn’t seem to be conducive to sewing, as well. Now I have to edit pictures for Fall photo shoots, too. I have had four scheduled, with two of them taken, and one with the edits all done. I’m half done with the last one, and thankfully do not have a photo shoot this weekend.
Maybe I can sew! *wish* *dream*
I feel the same way about life around here right now! I have some sewing that I would love to do, crib bumper pads that I HAVE to repair this week, a senior photo shoot this weekend, mounds of laundry and I need to start thinking about our upcoming trip to FL. Oh yeah…then we do have kids to take care of somewhere in that mix right?! 😛 Good luck with your list!
I have not even started to think about Halloween. Miller wants to be a smurf for some strange reason. That should be easy. Ha! At least you know what you need to sew. Maybe you will find the time to get your project list completed.
This seems to be epidemic. I have a dress cut out to make and the infamous quilt sitting there waiting for me to be brave enough to fit the new quilting foot to my machine… but school work dominates as usual 🙁
I think you offer a fun mix of both your professional and mothering responsibilities. I have a somewhat similar situation, but with two active boys. I sew when I can around sports, piano lessons, second language, school projects and a little thing called work.
I love photography and my favorite experience yet was when I shot a wedding. I loved it! They came back for baby photos and that was a real treat too.
I have been debating purchasing the D300 as well and I am curious if you are happy with it. What would you say the pros and cons are?
Thanks!
E
You do sound busy, but then I hate to say it, I don’t what it is about the fall, holidays coming soon? but everything seems to suddenly become more frantic. I think you’re doing a fine job of staying on top of what you do have going on. 🙂 I can’t even keep up with reading blog posts lately all I see is course scheduling on one monitor and instructional design on the other. LOL
Is it Friday yet?
Glad you have a free weekend coming up. 🙂
