This blanket is for the little man of one of our friends.  He was born early at 30.5 weeks and had spent a bit of time in the NICU getting stronger every day.  He is now at home and they are keeping him away from all the germies.  I am going to get this nicely washed up and mailed off to them so they have something warm to snuggle him in this winter.

Then it was time to tackle some more art purses for the kids.  They chose their fabrics *mostly* (they are still working on that whole matching thing) and I just went to work creating them.  The only changes I made to Jen’s tutorial is that I made it a bit taller to accommodate the paper pads I bought, and I added an extra layer of stiff interfacing attached to the inside part for stability when they are drawing.

Oh, and here is the basket of goodies.  I didn’t get a close up of the new hat, but it is in the back there.  It is much stretchier than the first one I made.  Maybe because I just used 2 yarns on this one instead of 3?  Ah well, the other one will go to charity, so it is all good!

Then since our school is all PC about celebrating a pagan holiday, I made the kids’ some Halloween outfits to wear Friday to school.  They can’t wear their costumes, so these will just have to do.  Their Aunt Susie gave me these Halloween appliques, which I had forgotten about.  I was digging for appliques for the art purse and found them just in time!  The kids each picked out two of them and I made outfits with their choices.  Kai got a shirt and he can wear his skull pants with it.  That will match pretty well.  Then I made Anya a dress and she has some black leggings she can wear with hers.  She really wanted some lace on it, so I had to work around those demands.

So…that was last week’s sewing.  Anya has instructed me to make her a blue dress, but first I really should start on the chair pockets for her class.  First, I need to buy the fabric, then I can think about sewing it.   Baby steps, right??
