I have a couple of photos here today. Last Tuesday was National Night Out, and it is a good way to go out and talk to the neighbors. The firetruck always comes out and they give free crap goodies to the kids. This year they couldn’t spray the water, though, due to the water shortage. The organizers always have root beer floats and some of the young teens do face painting. Here are a few shots I took that night:

Okay Stacy, tell me to stop if I keep bugging you, but I just LOVE your photos!
Did you use external flash here, and if so, would you share your settings (and anything else you want to tell me about flash!?)
Thanks!
I agree with Anna. We may have to make it mandatory Stacy…every photo you have to share all the scoop. They are all so “picture perfect!”
Looks like fun! We had NNO here, too. It was stiflingly hot, but fun. We had movie night at the local grade school.
Thanks Anna! Okay, I’m completely ashamed to say but I used my camera on AUTO of all things LOL! I didn’t want to mess with manual and just wanted to get snapshots of the kids. Unfortunately my originals are at home so I can’t access the exif data, but I do know that my pop up flash DID fire for these and the sun was setting behind us, so it didn’t need much flash. I know I have my flash setting dialed down normally, but I’m not sure if my auto settings override that. They probably do. For processing, I just defogged, a bump in curves and that was it.
I am planning on buying an external flash, but haven’t gotten to it yet. In fact I NEED to buy one soon for a ceremony that I am photographing for a friend in a few weeks. AHHH, it is coming up way too soon!
LOL Carrie, okay, so I will make sure I post settings and how I did the shots. 🙂
Kim, it was HOT and HUMID here, too. I really wish they could have sprayed the water, but we hadn’t gotten much rain…until last weekend that is!
Beautiful, as always–I love how crisp your shots are!
Agreed, would love to know your shot settings. I appreciate your “AUTO” honesty. 🙂
BTW, beautiful kids, beautiful photos as always.
I love how you captured this! Your photos are amazing!
i haven’t heard of national night out. how cool that your neighborhood gets together like that.
love the shots of the kids. sounds like a fun night for all. 🙂
How fun that sounds! They looked like they were having a great time, too. Kids just love face painting. How cute are THEY?!!
okay, then you are just naturally gifted, because if I used auto and pop up flash, I shudder at what I would get.
Thanks for the insight and photo scoop!
Anna
Thanks everyone!
Anna, I was really surprised they turned out so well, believe me. I think the lighting really helped, and having a decent camera to begin with definitely helps!
Amy, NNO is held nationwide, but there has to be volunteers to hold them. See this website:

What a fun evening! I adore Kai’s expression in the second photo. And I agree with everyone else – all your photos rock! You have the King Midas touch with photography. ;o)
Ewwwwww! Love your pictures! Thanks for sharing your cuties!
Beautiful shots, Stacy. I am always inspired by your pictures.
They are so darn cute!
Thank you all so much! 😀
