Here I sit, freshly cracked, twisted, bottle top (ah, corks, don’t go away!) off a bottle of red. Wine glass poured. Patience elusive. Hoping for some sort of calmness to sweep over me. Ah, what a day.
It started off by me sleepily waking after getting to bed around midnight after 4 hours of painting. I then finished vacuuming the kids’ rooms and moved toys for the carpet cleaner since they were SUPPOSED to be arriving between 8:30-9:30. Yeah…he arrived around 10:00. Meanwhile, I answered e-mails (personal and work) and determined that I needed to drop by the office since I forgot to leave them my keys to my desk that has all sorts of important bits that just can’t wait until next week. *sigh*
Then the hubby calls and has scheduled an appointment for a plumber to come between 12-2 pm to look at the cracked pipe that brings water from our sump pump to the street. It is putting water in the rocks just outside the wall…basically putting the water back where it came from.
Then hubby calls again, the plumber has pushed it back from 2-4 pm. Great, now I have time to run to the office!
Meanwhile I have been painting the room. The carpet guy gets finished around 12-ish. I jump in the shower, because, well…I stank. I run to the office and get home by 1:30. Hubby calls. The plumber got in a car accident, so no plumber today. Had I known I would have gotten some important stuff like new curtains for the room and milk (when don’t we need milk!)
Meanwhile, I finished painting the room, cleaned up everything, put the hardware back on the wall for the window treatments, and cleaned the room some more.
Then the kids came home, didn’t eat hardly any supper, and jumped on the bed while I was trying to put their rooms back together. Not listening AT ALL, of course.
Then Anya peed on the freshly cleaned carpet.
Man….this wine tastes good.
Oh, my, that’s a day alright! I’m tired/headachy just thinking about it! I hope you do find some time to just relax.
So after that “relaxing” day of vacation, you’re spending today at the spa. Right?
P.S. I agree with you about corks.
POP! Yes, corks do not go away. I’m glad you were able to enjoy a glass of wine after your hard work (vacation?). Feel free to come do a few things at my place…there’s always a bottle or two around here. 🙂
Alissa, I do have a headache…you must have ESP LOL! Um, Melody, sorry my energy is all gone…but I wouldn’t mind a glass of wine. 😉 Glad you ladies agree with me about the cork. *sigh* I don’t care if screw tops work better and keep the wine fresh. I’m a bit of a traditionalist.
You WERE the bug–yikes! Hope it gets better from here on in, and glad the wine helped!
