In the rough and tumble toddler world, it is very important to have someone on your side.  Someone to fight for you when another toddler takes your toy away, and someone to watch your favorite toys when you aren’t there.  It’s a dog eat dog world in the Two’s Room.

Kailan has Avery, and Avery has Kailan.  They have been together at daycare since they were just little beans and were born a month apart (Avery is younger).  They are pretty much inseparable.  Here are some examples of how they take care of each other:

Avery has a little “baby” that she plays with at daycare.  She usually leaves at night before Kailan, and she will give her “baby” to him to watch for her.  That is his job, and she won’t leave until Kailan takes up his responsibility.

Their room has a bunch of plastic animals, with a few elephants, which are Kailan’s favorite animal.  The elephants all belong to Kailan, and no one else is allowed to play with them.  If Avery sees someone playing with one of Kailan’s elephants she will take it from them.  They belong to Kai.

The other day they were playing with hats, putting them on and off.  Another kid took Avery’s hat.  Kailan went up to that kid and took it back from him.  That belonged to Avery.

If Kai is not paying attention/listening, Avery will call him by his full name, saying “Kailan Kraft!”  They are just like an old married couple! Here is Kailan’s class picture, and Avery is the cute blonde standing right behind him:
