Yesterday we had an ice skating party for the son of one of our friends. It was a really fun time for the kids. The almost-step-mom of the little guy is a party planner extraordinaire. She got little jerseys for all the little kids with their names on them. Now that is planning ahead!
I even got out on the ice with them, and it was fun. It took me a few minutes to remember how to ice skate, since it has been probably 20 years since I put on a pair of blades. My hips were moaning this morning after 1.5hrs on the ice, but it was worth it.
Anya chose to use the pvc “helpers” most of the time, but Kai was pretty brave and trying to figure out how to skate without it. He took a few crashes and sat out for a little bit, but overall he was toughing it out.
They had the ice rented for an hour and we were late, so it ended up being a half hour of their rental time. Luckily it was free skating after the Zambonie cleaned the ice so we got to go a bit longer.
A fun way to spend a winter afternoon. 🙂
*Brian got most of these pictures. I wasn’t going to carry my camera out on the ice!
that is fantastic !! i’ve never seen those pvc things … what a great idea !!
Good for Kai! Looks like you all had a really good time and a nice day 🙂
