edited: Whoohoo!!! I figured it out! Let it not be said that I will give up and let the computer beat me. The reason my file was so big with the comments… it was those SP3@?!MMERS. Did you understand that…I cannot speak their name or else they will hunt me down like the dogs they are and flood my site…AGAIN! There were 6M of comments from my dastardly foes. I had no idea they were all stored.
I still had to upload it twice and manually edit the xml file to get it small enough. But…I did it. Now I have to come up with a post for tomorrow.
My brain hurts.

I am seriously getting agitated here. I can’t upload my blog using the easy method on the WordPress dashboard. I also can’t upload a zipped file of my database to the new database. It appears I need to know how to CODE in order to upload it via command codes because it is apparently too big. Umm…I don’t know how to code…or use SSH (whatever that is)!!
If I have to repost them one at a time I may just cry, since I will lose all my comments and it would take FOREVER.

There is someone out there that can help. The gal that designed my blog knew how to do that. It will all work out!!
What internet browser are you using? Are you using a Mac? I can’t get WordPress to work right in Safari, but if I use Firefox on my Mac, it works just fine. You might want to try the same thing using a different browser. I know I was able to get all my stuff moved over into WordPress from Movable Type, including comments. Also, have you searched the WordPress forums? I’ve found helpful tips there that I’ve been able to use in spite of my inability to do code or SSH or whatever that is.

I haven’t a clue how to do it…but could you break the database in half and upload it in two segments??
I think I’m going to need an expert. I have been working for two days to figure it out. Trying tutorials on the net and everything.
I know it’s not –
– A browser issue
– A WordPress issue
It is that my database is too big. It is 10M zipped, so I’m going to try to get it in smaller files and select each table separately. It is the posts and the comments tables that are so big.
*Sigh* This is taking FOREVER.
If that doesn’t work, I’m going to see if Melody’s gal knows what to do! At this point I’m willing to pay money for some help. 🙂
I’m sorry it’s so hard. I wish it were easy. I also wish I could help, but I am not that computer literate! But I’m with you…I wouldn’t want to lose all my comments, either!

My goodness, I’m sorry about the frustration. 6M of junk is really terrifying. Do you have the akismet plugin on your wordpress site? Really helps with the junk control.
