I thought it would be a quick phase.  You know, like when they decide they don’t want to eat yogurt at every meal and snack because they have had it for every meal and snack and they are sick of it, but WAIT that only lasted for one day before the craving hit again.  You know, like that??

Oh, no, baby girl is STILL sleeping on the floor.  How is that comfortable??  I have made a bed of her quilts on the floor to make it comfier, but she still ends up on the carpet at some point.  I might be inclined to think that she wants a big bed to stretch out on, but when offered mommy and daddy’s bed she will generally still end up on the floor.

It is baffling.

Before we hit the hay at night, first I will check her room (she is a wanderer, remember?) and then if she isn’t on her floor, she is generally on our floor.  If the lights in the room aren’t on, I have to watch where my feet hit the floor so I don’t step on the limbs-all-akimbo next to my side of the bed.  If she isn’t there when we go to sleep, I guarantee she will be there in the morning.

I really, really hope she will get over the novelty of sleeping on the floor soon.  Heck, just getting her to actually go to sleep ON TIME would be so terribly novel and we would honestly jump for joy.  I think it was probably around 10:30 last night when she went to bed.  We can hear her running from room to room upstairs deciding which floor is more comfortable.  If she asked me the answer would be, “None of them!!  Sleep in your bed, child!”.  After we threaten to take away her taggie blanket (which she sometimes actually takes our threats seriously), she finally finds a spot on the floor that seems palatable.

I guess as the universe needs to balance itself out, in order for our children to be so incredibly cute, they must have flaws.  And those flaws are most definitely in getting them to sleep.
