It actually wasn’t as traumatic as I thought it would be! I didn’t shed one solitary tear, surprisingly enough. The stylist was a very nice young lady and she just cut the 10 inches that they needed. I think it was at least another inch that was taken off when she was straightening it out, so about 11-12 inches was taken off. It was really nice that the salon donated the haircut, so it didn’t cost me anything to get my hair cut for Locks of Love.
I must say, though, ladies…find a salon that does this: washes my hair, massages my scalp, puts a hot towel on the roots to condition them, meanwhile she gives me an arm/hand massage and then on the way back to the chair I can dip my hands in the parafin wax and it stays on while she cuts my hair. I LOVE this salon just for that part. It doesn’t take an expert to cut a straight line, so for me, it’s all about how well they do in that part. Plus, it doesn’t cost any extra from the other salon’s I have frequented.
Here’s the pictures from my cut:
The pile of hair (she cut it in 4 different ponytails since it was so thick)
Freshly cut (before she straightened it out)
New ‘do (after I dyed it red again – Natural Instincts Spiced Tea)
I really like it! It is totally a “hair flipable” haircut. I couldn’t flip my hair before, because…well, it was just FAR too long to flip. Now I can flip it around like a supermodel!
After I got my haircut I went to another store in the mall and a lady there said, “I love your long hair!”. I laughed and said I just got it cut off for locks of love. She was amazed at that. Oh, and my hair is a lot wavier now without that extra weight on it. There is a definite curl factor…so weird since my hair was stick straight my whole life until I had kids. I think it may have gotten thicker, too, but that might just be my imagination.
What do you think?
You have such beautiful hair. I have the same “problem”. Since having Zoe my hair has a wave through the bottom layers. It’s not all wavy… but it’s not all straight either.
I already commented on the photo over at Flickr, but I’ll say it again–I LOVE it! You look so cute and sassy in that ‘after’ photo
Your hair was gorgeous before, but it seemed so unmanageable–even if it wasn’t. Now it’s still longer than average, it’s a gorgeous color, and it totally suits you.
So, are you planning to grow it out again, or just keep it like this?
Thanks ladies!
Colleen, I definitely have straight patches, too. Most of the top of my hair is straight, and then the bottom is all wavy. I wish it were all the same!
Alissa, I think I will probably grow it out again and then maybe get it cut again. I don’t know…we’ll see! It actually wasn’t unmanageable, but it was getting harder to comb through with the wave. Now it is much easier!
I think it looks great! 4 donations to Locks of Love. You can’t beat that.
It looks great. I bet it will be easier to manage now too.
It looks fantastic! Wow!! I love the color, love the length – totally supermodel flippable! And I think it looks just like Alissa said – “cute and sassy!”
You just made a bunch of people pretty darn happy over at locks o’ love.
Stacy, you look so cute! My hair was stick straight before I hit puberty, and now it has a wave. I’m kind of hoping that it’ll go back to straight after preganancy!
I love it!! And the color is gorgeous. I’m working on getting my hair to that length. Someone is going to be very lucky to have your hair. It looks so thick. Congrats!
Wow!! Stacy, I LOVE it! You look 10 years younger and much softer..if that makes any sense. Its a terrific cut, I think you look 10 pounds lighter too …not that you needed to be
Unbelievable hair…Locks for Love would turn my stringy straight hair down if I tried to donate. I’m completely amazed by your hair. And you DEFINITELY have the flip factor going on.
Yowsa, hot mama alert! That looks fantastic Stacy! I must say, I love the long hair, but I love this look even more. And it’s all the more wonderful with your 4x donation to Locks of Love.
And, I’ve totally got to find a salon like that!
You ladies sure know how to make a girl feel good! Thanks so much!
If any of you get to the point of having long, long hair and want to donate it, it is a worthy cause. Apparently it takes six to ten ponytails to make one wig. Hopefully mine count as 4…or at least 2!
Your hair looks amazing. Who ever gets your hair through Locks of Love will be a very happy girl!
Stacy, your new hairdo looks fantastic.
LOVE IT! The new look suits you for sure. Flip away, lady!
Looks great, Stacy. Glad it wasn’t traumatic…and you definitely have contributed to a wonderful cause.
wow – gorgeous! i can’t believe with all of that cut off that it is still that long. you look beautiful!
LOVE IT! I can’t believe how much hair you still have left!!! Your look fabulous girl!
*blushing here* Thanks ladies!
Love the colour ! Looks nice and bright!
Actually I stopped by the other day but couldn’t comment at the time.
I love the hair cut, too. And the color. I have REALLY thick hair, so I related to those BIG pony tails! It went to Lock of Love? Awesome.
Isn’t bouncy hair fun! And sexy!
Congratulations!
Fantastic. I had to trawl back through your posts to find this because I so wanted to see how it looked afterwards. What glorious hair you have, you are soooo lucky! Have been really enjoying looking at all the sewing posts too. Its great to see what you come up with. Very talented in many areas!
